Not gonna lie, it would be hilarious. Breslow gets ripped for giving him the QO, the pitching market goes higher than expected so he declines, so Red Sox fans praise the decision to give Pivetta the QO. The Red Sox whiff on everyone else and end up signing Pivetta and losing the comp pick.

Fair enough. I can’t imagine the 23 inning difference overcoming everything else that Sale lead in and also undoing the historical precedent of triple crown pitchers always winning the Cy Young, but I appreciate your perspective nonetheless.
