#ThroughHerEyes When Elon Musk brings his son to work, it’s cute — when women do, it’s unprofessional. This week's Irishwoman's Diary, @irishexaminer.bsky.social www.irishexaminer.com/opinion/colu...

The @npwsireland.bsky.social claim that Wicklow Mountains National Park is "a true flavour of Ireland’s ancient wilderness" 🤔 Good works underway, but there are also big challenges 🦌🐑🔥🌲 www.irishexaminer.com/lifestyle/ou...

The Albert Quay/Kennedy Quay dangerous junction can't wait 5 years. open.substack.com/pub/walkbike...

Just this morning another person on a bike was struck at this junction by a person driving a car. Thankfully the person was able to walk away but very shaken and bruised.

Historically illiterate American reactionary and opportunist in Munich lecturing Europeans about Neo-Nazism. Another reminder that when the far-right refer to ‘free speech’ they mean the toleration and accommodation of extremism.

Lads this is a joke. Loads have been begging for more greenery in the City and all we get is excuses. Now we know we won’t get the bigger stuff since they can’t just replace trees in tree bases that are already there. Please raise a stink! Pics from @seanydunne.bsky.social

Launching! 🚀 Today I'm launching a new service for landowners in Ireland who want to rewild their land. I hope this will be the start of a network that will promote rewilding in this country - the time is right! New social 🙋‍♂️ @rewildyourland.bsky.social take a look 👇 www.rewildyourland.ie

I'm sure the electrical companies with their sustainability commitments & policies plastered all over their websites and social media will dismiss this stupid idea out of hand. 🙃

Today I learned about Madame Lynch: a Cork woman who became the First Lady of Paraguay. en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eliza_L...

I won't lie: after 3 weeks of experiencing almost unimaginably abundant and diverse Costa Rican nature, returning home to the Irish ecological moonscape is a visceral gut punch. But what Costa Rica shows is that it doesn't have to stay like this: nature CAN return. #Rewilding 🌍

Imagine catching 50 drivers in a single day in Cork on their phones at the wheel, and still mentioning hi-viz as a so called safety mechanism for vulnerable road users? Clueless

This is the junction at Eastgate in Ballincollig. Narrow footpaths with obstacles, a pinch point for buses and no safe route through for cyclists. As a main artery into Ballincollig village, improvements under Bus Connects can't come quick enough.

Invasive species are ‘destroying ecosystems’ in Killarney National Park jrnl.ie/6595158

The Met Eireann account on Blue-sky is not an official account, and has posted something racist. Perhaps you should consider unfollowimg them

Well past time for the public sector to start migrating to new platforms. Sticking to the previously old reliables during major events just won't cut it anymore.

We had a productive first meeting of the year tonight for Ballincollig Sustainable Travel. Lots of plans to promote and improve active travel for our community are in the pipeline for the year ahead. Lookout for updates here soon and anyone who wishes to get involved can send a DM for info.

This mentions a Rhododendron Walking Festival supported by Tipp council. Of all the ways to enjoy nature and the outdoors, a festival celebrating one of the most damaging invasive species is pretty odd.

This is truly inspirational. It’s what we need to hear right now. Thank you Bishop Mariann Budde ❤️

A rare planetary alignment which will see six planets line up in a row across the night sky is due to take place from tonight for the first time since 2018

Drug charities looking for a safe and supervised injection facility in Cork - as has opened in Dublin - have been told we have to wait at least a year and probably more

It’s disconcerting to see statements like “There won’t be as many cycle lanes built, that’s for sure” ... “It’ll be about big picture stuff now.” Cycle lanes are the big picture if we want to cut emissions, avoid climate fines, and improve public health.

Invasive species are destroying the environment and cost local authorities over €8.5 million in just four years. Read the latest investigation from @investigates.thejournal.ie here: http://jrnl.ie/6592448t

So I didn't talk about this here, was waiting on an outcome but none is coming it looks like. My dad got hit by a car a month ago and was very lucky to escape with only a minor shoulder and elbow injury, helmet cracked so no concussion. Driver drove off without stopping. Could have been much worse.

Carnage on the roads. The chair of Climate & Health Alliance in a critical condition after being hit by a car. In the past year or two, two others I know have been knocked off their bikes - the president of a sporting body and the head of an environmental NGO - both recovered thankfully.

Would like to think wearing a coat over the high-vis here is a subtle protest at the complete inadequacy of the 'Be Safe, Be Seen' campaign.

High Court judge blasts Bord Pleanala for being far more worried re. visual amenity than #climate breakdown or compliance with State’s legal climate obligations. Judge also calls on ABP to educate its staff, many of whom clearly have no clue on climate. Epic. www.independent.ie/irish-news/h...

"It is cold, after all. Is it not cold? Am I wrong? How is this an argument? It’s freezing, mate. I’m freezing. Are you not freezing? I’m so cold that I’ve ended up writing an entire column about how cold it is, and I’m writing it from one of the least cold parts of the country." Surrealing:

What a set of headlines on the front page of The Guardian right now. #climatechaos

Awful to see this happen on Barrack St.

Not bothered about the demise of Facebook or Instagram. The Merlin app is keeping me going these days! Some bird chat captured on a recent walk in the Regional Park. Have seen all of these at in the park at one stage or another, except the Long-tailed Tit.

AI-generated ‘slop’ is slowly killing the internet, so why is nobody trying to stop it? | Arwa Mahdawi

Lose all respect for groups or organisations using AI generated imagery. The lack of imagination, the devaluing of art and photography, the corner-cutting and cheapness of it. Would rather have photos of coddle stapled to my eyeballs.

A broken stream, a 'dirty drain'. Is there any hope for the Glasheen? open.substack.com/pub/tripeand...

More Ai slop! That egg looks like it's straight out of a packet of Haribo.

Love this picture of Mr Fox, taken by my sister down in Cork

The Conor Pass is closed due to adverse weather conditions and heavy snowfall

Just spotted this on Instagram by a local cafe. Not a social media guru by any stretch but would be hopeuful that the way forward for businesses would be to choose real images of their products instead of this kind of slop. Looks like it could be from a pixar movie.
