What rubbish. It's been so peaceful here. Especially with the lack of forced pay for blue check engagement baiters clogging up any post on the other site.

OR we could continue to push back against bullshit companies like open AI. That give nothing to society but oversold, underperforming products that do more harm than good. And use the disgusting amounts of money that is fed into conmen like Sam Altman for, I dunno...Helping fix the other issue???

Yea they have really started to flood ren fairs. There's one I sell at. And lately that stuffs been a plague. It also actively harms my sales, as people whinge about the art being too expensive, then literally walk back into my stall with these cheap garbage dragons (to prove a point I guess??)

Definitely depends on use yes. I resin print instead of cast a lot of my work now as I sell at a lot of events (many of the artworks in my pinned post were printed).
But I spend a -lot- of time sculpting and finishing said prints, as to me they are artworks. Not cheap products to make a buck off :)

Pretty much yea :/
Like I am a 3D sculptor, and my artworks are resin 3D printed. But even I can say. If you are buying a file, and just adjusting for print on your machine, & selling what you pop off the bed. You are not hand making anything...You are just manufacturing. There's no "art" there.

HA I know that feeing. I make horns too and had the same thing. Last year I was at a ren fair i was near a 3D reseller. And people would tell me my artist dolls were too expensive, and then show me their $10 dragon identical to the photo above. I wanted to shreik like a banshee every time haha

Yeaaa. I get asked for my files all the time and point blank refuse. Why would I want to contribute to this issue? (That and then compete with my own work lol).

That's wonderful to hear! I'd honestly like to see them banned outright at this point. I see so many stalls that are just this junk in vendor halls too. It can't be a fun shopping experience for people paying to get in.

Yea it's all the same crap. They either just get the free (often stolen) files off maker spaces. Or pay a small fee to people like cynderdragon to have seller rights to print and sell the same stuff like a plague lol. Often claiming they are "handmade" if they make the tiniest edits (or none at all)

Yup. And I have had people go "i tweaked it!" Or "I paid for the selling rights!" I don't care. It's resold garbage that has no place in spaces dedicated to artists. You are selling low quality stuff that is seen everywhere a million times before. Get your ass over to the merch section.

I am often placed near & sometimes next to these people at conventions in the artist ally sections. Their cheap, raw printed unfinished garbage always helps devalue real artists work, because of course we can't compete price wise when we actually sculpt and properly finish our work ourselves. *rant*

I honestly feel the same... often. I think it's just a human thing to worry about these things :)

That's $205 a month, or $1,665.40 a year in AUD *Cries in Australian*. I gave up being up to date/practiced in toonboom a while back, even though I am often expected to use it in my contract jobs. They have made it unaffordable in the extreme.

I am so fucking angry, often. It's like sinking. & watching people's faces show no emotion as the water closes over you, while they watch you & everything you are drown with little interest.
It's hurt my livlihood & my easy enjoyment of art. And I'll never forgive the fuckers who created, or use it.

That being said. Even if this is the case, that's fine :) Kids need their dinosaurs too! I didn't mind the real life scenes either, though I did find a lot of them felt like they killed the pace. Perhaps would have enjoyed them more if they were just at the start and/or end of each episode.

Oh my god YES, I WOULD? RIGHT NOW? (This is amazing, I love it!)

Pretty much. Generative "AI" isn't really Artificial Intelligence anyway. Unfortunately, they have co-opted the term so well, you HAVE to say AI now for the general public to understand what you are talking about.
REAL AI and it's research has many good uses. Current generative "AI" not so much.

DON'T use generative AI. I will yell about this forever. Its cringeworthy, its damaging the environment, it's pointless, it's lazy, it's harmful to artists, it's making us dumber, and worst of all...It's destroying livlihoods just to make the ultra rich THAT much richer via unethical means.

Haha yea. The idea I am getting from the trailers of this one especially. Is that, this is the island where all the screwups were left behind XD

Exactly! We have never been so lucky to be in a wealth of amazing Paleo film media right now, its insane! And yea, I always saw everything past Jurassic park 1 as purely monster media. Not with the most inspired designs either (I mean hec, Mutadon is a basic wyvern, with a Rodan feel haha). But fun!
comment in response to
post
I DO agree with a lot of the critics, saying the main monster reveal is uninspired as hell (it covers many of the worst overdone monster design sins lol). And that the "Dinosaurs" are very outdated or outright incorrect. Buuuut its all just silly monster fun! I look elsewhere for good paleo media :)

Completely understandable! I actually see a lot of Disney films for sale in thrift stores, garage sales ect (especially DVD's as most people go digital or bluray now.) You can probably find it there, or online like on gumtree ect :D
