That site uses Leaflet: leafletjs.com/examples.html
to load a geojson layer: supercharge.info/service/supe...
MapLibre GL JS is a great alternative to Leaflet, but Leaflet has better tutorials so I'd start there.

You can open the .laz files in QGIS to explore the points pretty easily, or write some pipeline scripts using PDAL (they have tutorials) to extract a DEM or DSM GeoTIFF. More complex applications might use the .laz or .tif as input to a machine learning model, e.g. github.com/aws-samples/...

Just click somewhere to see what lidar point clouds are available for that area! I've mostly seen it used for building footprints/heights and tree inventories (count, density, crown size).

I mean there's the "clutter cleaners" type of professional services that often deal with hoarding situations and bulk removal.

Oh, that makes sense! It seems rare to find clinics that do both.

Small clarification, there's several abortion clinics in town. Planned parenthood has two, VCU does them, Richmond medical center for women, and at least one more that I'm forgetting...
Anyway, love Seven Hills! They're great, please donate, I did ❤️ they're over halfway there!

Aww, nice! I've been kinda suspicious of him since learning about his close ties with conservative evangelicals, but this is a solid step towards building trust. Thanks for sharing.

Jeez, cold time of year! We have a small 1-2 person tent she can use. I just opened it up to check and all the pieces are there (although the elastic connecting the pole pieces is gone, mildly annoying)
Just dm if you want to pick up

Yikes, that seems awfully permissive. Does that mean someone in a divorce could subpoena their spouse's location history from Flock?

Such a good question! I often wish we had a local civic tech group that would collaborate on neat coding projects in the public interest - like Civic Tech DC or Code with the Carolinas in Raleigh.

the /r/rva subreddit also has a pretty active discord. much like the sub it's not really my scene but I'm glad they have a community 🤷🏽

I mean, it's not the *whole* block, but it's pretty close. And yeah, he has 18 properties on the city's vacant list, which is 10 more than anyone else. And he only has 38 properties in the city total, so over half are vacant.

I like their framing of "non-local law enforcement officers". RPS' current policy on law enforcement activity in school (4-3.3) is very permissive and just says the schools will cooperate with law enforcement agencies.

They say Bon Secours is issuing the bonds "through" the EDA, which makes this sound like conduit bonds - where the county is just a middleman and doesn't use their own money or take on any risk. New to me 🤷🏽 www.investopedia.com/terms/c/cond...

Gotcha. Yeah, that does seem like an easy win! The city could get 25 Purple sensors for like $7500. Seems like the kind of project Avula would get excited about too

As a side note, I like the work the Science Museum's RVAir project did in getting some affordable PurpleAir sensors installed around the city. They tried to find host sites in marginalized neighborhoods but looking at the map I still don't see many there map.purpleair.com

Could you explain more what you mean? DEQ lists 25 air monitors around the state on their site: www.deq.virginia.gov/our-programs...
And they say they used 34 sites in 2023. Are those 2 sites the only ones with specific sensors or something? 🤔
