iirc CN shows are typically funded by the multiple CNs across multiple countries and CN US seemed like it was much more game for it all but some of the international regions werent. iirc CN US wound up funding the movie and Future itself anyway

The After Hours bumper they actually used on air was slightly different but I love it too, the colors transitioning on the screen, so retro but like in a good way

2024 and 2025 were significantly more fun even if they were shorter and basically just promotion vehicles for their star shows.
weird there was no credits for the Rick and Morty thing I really wanna know who made that

and even the half hour that had sneak peeks was still mostly spent on royal crackers, an episode they had already posted to YouTube a week before

the 2023 prank was a let down too. they stretched it out to two hours by playing space ghost fire ant and infomercials. plus the ambient swim thing that was presumably meant more for Max than AS.

though I guess the prank got funnier to me knowing adult swim wound up doing absolutely nothing else with pibby. as far as we know she died abandoned alone and in the cold in the Joe Pera episode

that pibby prank still annoys me. not because it's pibby but because it felt like missed potential. outside of Rick and the bumps they only did like 10 seconds or less of glitched content per show. I flat out blinked and missed the one pibby appearance they put in a full half hour birdgirl episode

i just love that adult swim has resisted becoming something sad and pathetic like [insert paramount owned property]. i mean hell CN's schedule is good these days too, if extremely old-skewing
i like tv :)

and marathons are cool! i like when they pull a random show out of a hat for it, like Space Ghost and Birdman in January. i LOVE that Pete Smith Day still exists.
oh wait duh i remembered another major permanent change. three more damn hours and checkered past lol

aside from occasional experiments (I remember when they started airing originals at 10p all the way through like 1:30a on fridays in 2019) i think the most permanent change to Adult Swim's lineup has been the addition of friday marathons in 2020, even as they shrank from 4 hours to 2 typically.

CN used to have only like two familiar patterns for me: tom and jerry and looney tunes were on during school and TTG was on at 6pm. they haven't done (classic) T&J and LT reruns since 2017 (though given the schedule these days I feel like they're coming eventually) and CN doesn't even have 6p now

the year is 2015. originals on the weekday schedule start at 12:00a and end at 1:30a, except for that friday live-action block that starts at 11:00p. DVR Theater is on at 4:00a. the year is 2025. originals on weekdays start at 11:30p and end at 1:30a. DVR Theater is oddly absent except on Fridays.
