Been a good day today. From morning to evening, European leaders standing up, all around the world, one after another, and speaking clearly against the Trump/Putin agenda.

Unbelievable, from the man who did more than anyone else to give Douglas Murray's explicit white ethnonationalism a platform and a bridge to the UK mainstream. archive.ph/LMDiX

Extraordinary story the Wall Street Journal. X is threatening advertisers that if they don’t spend more, Elon Musk will use his influence in government to block company mergers. That’s extortion.

An 11-year-old girl took her own life in Texas after she was tormented for weeks by her sixth-grade classmates at Gainesville Intermediate School, who threatened to call ICE authorities and have her family deported from the US, her grieving parents have said. 💔 💔

There's a rumour that Nigel Farage is keeping his head down because he's off to a Trump cheerleading conference over the weekend. I’m afraid I’m being proved right- Farage is far more interested in Trump's success than British security. He is a bootlicker and a plastic patriot.

Morning.

Trump calls Zelensky “a dictator without elections” having lauded Putin, a man who hasn’t had a free or fair election in years and who has prevented elections in Ukraine because he invaded.

An All-Women shortlist. Good Morning.

Another one down. Good Morning.

Everyday, the UK government sounds more and more like the previous incumbents.

Wild that some people use op-eds to admit they're shit parents/partners.

There are no basic standards in the modern Tory party. Not of respectability, or intellectual consistency, or mortality. So it will now say anything - anything at all - if it echoes what that madman in the White House is doing.

Trump is madness. You can see quite clearly that his mind is in chaos and that this chaos is being projected onto the world. He is an animal in a cage, prone to sudden bouts of violence inews.co.uk/opinion/star...

Good Evening from the Fwee Twade Gazette.

It's Telegraph Logic Day.

Goodwin spreading misinformation over on the other place again. Same old debunked rubbish. Foreign born & British nationals are presented here as two different groups. Obviously they are not. I am a foreign born British national. So is Boris Johnson. But it makes a nice dog whistle.

I can be as critical as anyone of the government's occasionally muddled message on growth but Look! At! This! Chart!! Anything they've done pales next to this GIGANTIC UNFORCED ERROR COMMITTED IN 2016! (fagpacket maths follows) on.ft.com/4hzyvbJ

Looks like somebody has ADS: Acosta Derangement Syndrome.

Morning.

This counts as a damning review for Goodwins new book. I’ve no idea if it covers his time at Nottingham but he was refused support for promotion to prof because he wasn’t doing what profs were meant to do. It had nothing to do with his politics & all to do with his selfishness.

So, after Nick Timothy on "How to win an election" and David Frost on "How to do a great trade deal", the Telegraph adds another to its list of star columnists...

Trump is already killing manufacturing jobs in America.

Off-the-charts irony Wednesday. #Brexit

No lies told in this headline.

Facebook is turning into X with its crap posts. Well done to the information oligarchs.

It's been quite something to watch supposedly 'patriotic' British newspapers actively cheerleading on a foreign administration that is openly working against our interests.

“Americans are being buried under an avalanche of misinformation enabling the abuse of power. The free press is crumbling. Editors are disappearing. Social media is giving up on fact-checking. The truth is smothered by lies told for power and profit” President Joe Biden

Evening.

Keir Starmer: "I got a letter this week from a Tory voter in a Labour seat. I hope they don't mind me saying who it was, it was Liz Truss. "She was complaining that saying she crashed the economy was damaging her reputation. It was crashing the economy that damaged her reputation."

Morning.

This 2010 book by Daniel Hannan has aged incredibly badly.

Some on the British right are all jostling to get retweeted by Elon Musk - to the point where nothing else matters. It's as dignified as a naked mud slide at a vodka promotion... but then Mackenzie didn't have much in the first place

Just in case you were wondering how things are going over at The Spectator, in the opening months of the Paul Marshall/ Michael Gove golden era... These were all published on Monday.

Mark Zuckerberg doesn't just bend the knee to Trump, he throws himself prostrate on the floor in front of the throne. Darkness falls. www.nytimes.com/2025/01/07/b...

This is an astonishingly ill-informed and amoral assessment for the political editor of the BBC to have reached, about someone spreading extremist conspiracy theories and using them to whip up hatred against elected politicians. I'd say I'm surprised, but sadly I'm not.

This is the colleague that the likes of Cleverly, Badenoch & Jenrick are refusing to defend...

I'm retired. I voted Ukip in 2014, Conservative in 2015, did not vote in 2017, Tory again in 2019. In 2024 I voted Reform. I think immigration is too high, the last Conservative government was the worst ever, and London is a foreign land. Why is today moving me back towards the Tories?

In other news, Nigel Farage didn't bother to turn up to the debate on grooming gangs in the House of Commons just now

I've just shut up the East Wing, reduced Simmonds to a 5 day week, and sacked Rogers the chauffeur for much the same reason. Seems I'll have to drive the children back to school in the Bentley myself this Easter term.

A media New Year’s resolution: stop reporting things Elon Musk tweets/says as ‘news’, and definitely not as ‘demands’. We’re not his hostages

When the then-Ukip leader Gerard Batten gave a party role to Tommy Robinson, Nigel Farage was furious and tried to get to get Batten deposed. Will thus be interesting to see Farage’s response now Elon Musk has come out as a Robinson fanboy. amp.theguardian.com/politics/201...

Yesterday’s visit to Gibraltar. Nice place to visit with fascinating history.
