I don't know Jamie Raskin very well. But I shall correct that. Thank you!

Yes! Pete is an amazing public speaker. I would love to see him speak more for the whole party .

I cannot stress enough the need to communicate this to both of our Senators and your Representative via official channels and not just social media. You can find out how at this website or message me directly and I will be happy to help you figure it out. www.cantwell.senate.gov

Do you happen to have a link for this?

Excellent point, sir. I shall reconsider my argument somewhat.

What? Was the Super Bowl today? I wouldn't know because I was busy boycotting it.

Can't agree with the last one. Mitch actually broke ranks with the GOP on one or two of the nomination votes

That sounds great except if I don't live in their district, it really doesn't matter what I say to them or about them.

Thank you for being amazing!

I just found you here and on Substack yesterday. But I absolutely love what you are doing. So many people feel helpless and you are doing more than parroting the news or complaining that someone needs to do something. You are goving people things they can do with this post and others like it.

Yawn. The Super Bowl is a hard pass for me this year. I am so tired of watching the same people in the Super Bowl every single year. Even baseball doesn't have the Yankees and the Dodgers in the championship series every year despite not having salary caps and less impact full drafts.

Please use this tool to find and contact your elected officials, including Senator Murray, via official correspondence. www.sos.wa.gov/elections/vo...

Can a lawsuit be used to ask for the legal system to intervene? I know that the power of our representatives in Congress is limited at the moment. But I wonder if enough lawsuits in enough districts can be effective in providing oversight to what DOGE is doing.

Can you help delay the vote with a filibuster? If you can, please do. Delay every single vote on the floor as long as you can. Make it as hard as possible for the Republican majority to do anything until they come to the table to negotiate.

I think that we already know the answer to that.

Asking others isn't the point. There is a whole lot of 'somebody do something' in this space and not a lot of 'this is what we need to do.' Let me provide a not helpless example: We need to organize, protest, and boycott. Trump is a populist and will respond when he sees bad press and loses money.

I stand corrected! Sounds like a great idea. I hope that this new (old) DNC Chairman can organize the chaos to deny and delay work in Congress until people are willing to come to the table and talk.

You know, the calls for other people to do something are starting to get really annoying. You know whatgas been proven to work with the Bully in Chief? News that is not good for him. Protest! Organize! Sue! Tell your story to the media! Populists want to stay popular and he is no exception.

Well, they can't. The Majority leader sets the agenda. A 50% vote ends a filibuster. Committees are all chaired by Republicans. Exactly what else can Senator Murray do? We would all like to know so that we can ask her to do it. A better question is what else can we do as private citizens?

That's just air traffic controllers. Please don't forget all of the law enforcement, customs and immigration folks, and every other person in government service who makes sure that trade, travel, and day to day operations that make our country function happen.

Wow, did I hear that right? A jury is capable of judging the efficacy of a vaccine rather than the scientific method?

They certainly are due representation, but I don't think that the relatively small population and area of DC deserve the same number of votes in the Senate as New York and California. Perhaps, DC should be part of Virginia or Maryland instead.

It is small. But it would accomplish something. Even if it is the news article that noted how Senators refused to be the balance to the Executive branch.

Fun story, actual coffee costs closer to $3 a cup at Starbucks. The $7 things are mostly milk, sugar, and syrups on top of an espresso shot. It isnt the coffee you are paying for with those darlings. It's all the other crap in it.

I hope so, Eric. You have been hard at work tho last week. Thank you for what you and your peers at the Times and other news outlets have been doing to help keep the public informed of what is happening.
comment in response to

Ahh, excellent! I actually don't think that we have to worry about the Senator not using her position in the committee to oppose the Trump agenda. She's made her opposition pretty clear. However, having her voters encourage her to do so is also important.
comment in response to
post
I believe that she is doing that. Except that she isn't the majority leader, so she can't do much of what Mitch did in setting the Senate's agenda or negotiating on the Democratic caucus behalf with the President. What else is it that she can do? I'd like to know so I can advocate for it as well.
comment in response to
post
What isn't she doing that is already in her power? Speaking out, voting against, and being a loud and outspoken critic of terrible Executive actions is absolutely taking action to stop it. If you have suggestions as to how the Senator could do more, I am certain that she would love to hear them.

Ha! I did this math too. It really doesn't make business sense does it? Of course, this is only counting the unionized employees. Not every store is unionized and not every Starbucks kiosk is operated by Starbucks employees. How much would it cost to give all of their employees a 50 cent raise?

Why bother boycotting? I love their coffee, but a grande drip coffee costs $2 more than going to 7-11 or McDonald's. The market will do the work for us at those prices.
