That NYT movie list seems very male, not so much in terms of voters and directors but plots. Also I get many people love Quentin Tarantino but that many of his films in the list? Nope.

The Supreme Court is about to go on an extended summer vacation, after having blown up the docket of every single lower court judge who has been working like a dog to deal with the firehose of illegal orders coming out of this administration.

Raskin: "If you can opt out of mandatory classroom readings bc it offends your religious objections, you can do it bc it offends your philosophical beliefs... you're gonna have a lot of cases where ppl say 'Our family doesn't believe in evolution. We don't want our kid in class when it's taught'"

I really do think this might be the worst Supreme Court of all time, which is saying something for an institution that coexisted with slavery These motherfuckers are even worse imo bc they are *also* out here using antebellum reasoning and pursuing antebellum goals but well post bellum!

I live in a city that is a huge part of the economic engine for the state, and yet, every fucking year, the republicans in the state are "why should we fund mass transit in Philly"? Dude, we make the money, that's why. It's why you have roads in that town with 5 houses.

My statement on today’s decision in Trump v Casa:

So when do Blue states start banning firearms? And then start making every gun owner file an individual lawsuit seeking an individual injunction? Or they can go through the class certification process which, let me tell you having done it myself in litigation, takes forever. Let’s do this.

Not just small groups either. Look at how Molly treats Hermonie in Goblet of Fire. Look at how in HP, predominately if you are a wife ,you don't work. If you work, you aren't a wife. WTF?

I much rather have my tax dollars go to people to transition to the right body as opposed to funding penis pills for old men who ditch their first wife for a younger model. Just saying.

Prof. @sifill.bsky.social, Founder of the 14th Amendment Center for Law & Democracy, shares her statement on the Supreme Court’s decision in Trump v. Casa. You can read the full SCOTUS decision here: www.supremecourt.gov/opinions/24p...

FYI - if you teach college, much of this appears easily adaptable to that level

This Supreme Court is not a judicial court, but a royal court. They exist not to apply the laws of this nation fairly for all its citizens but rather to prop up the king and attend to his needs and his needs alone.

this court says that allowing EPA to regulate carbon emissions is a "major question" that demands congressional debate. but allowing the president to, with a flick of the wrist, end a straightforward constitutional right is something that must be allowed to stand?

Sotomayor: Trump knew his birthright citizenship order was unconstitutional, so he went after the universal injunctions. "The gamesmanship in this request is apparent and the Government makes no attempt to hide it. Yet, shamefully, this Court plays along." www.supremecourt.gov/opinions/24p...

1/ Remember (& you’ll hear this caveat from all the legal commentators) today’s SCOTUS decision in the birthright citizenship case is not about whether Trump can do away with birthright citizenship in an EO. It’s about whether a single district judge can issue a nationwide injunction pausing the EO.

Trump v Casa was decided today 6-3. The Court strikes down the issuance by several district courts of nationwide orders stopping the Trump Admin from enforcing the birthright citizenship EO. The Court takes no position on whether Trump’s order violates the 14th. www.supremecourt.gov/opinions/24p...

Fuck 6 members of the Supreme Court.

I see lots of people making comparisons to Germany and I understand why, but as an American this is more like how badly we treated the Japanese Americans in WWII.

Finally a corporation is reacting to what’s happening here. Don’t be surprised that it’s not a car company or a shampoo brand. They’re all still pretending that life is normal. It’s a bookstore. Barnes and Noble fills their store display windows with Orwell’s 1984 and Atwood’s Handmaid’s Tale.

Let’s be absolutely clear. This decision, based on fringe conspiracy theories, will kill children. www.washingtonpost.com/health/2025/...

Yes, I agree — it would be terrible. Please do NOT share this information!!!

A MAGA Christian nationalist dressed up like a police officer to shoot and kill Minnesota Democratic lawmakers. We should still be talking about it. If lawmakers aren't safe, not one of us is safe.

In her interview with Jen last night, @replamonica.bsky.social pointed out the expense that comes with fighting the Trump administration in court - a penalty that is often overlooked in reporting but is very likely part of the goal of Trump's abuse of the courts.

The new federal budget wants to eliminate bird banding funding, the one thing that allows scientists to track the health and population of birds across the country. Birders, rise up! By @rheisman.bsky.social therevelator.org/trump-vs-bir...
