I’m expecting so many people who think they are inside the collapsing MAGA circle of safety to realize, “oops- I’m on the outside too”.

Great. Now we have to fight (non-violently and en masse) for both spicy fan fiction and democracy.

My mid size city has daily drop in pro-democracy rallies, weekly Tesla Takedowns, weekly SSA office rallies for Fed workers, weekly overpass happy hour protests, and are starting to rally outside the nearest ICE facility.
The big events aren’t the only opportunities to plug in.

Time to call your senator and demand a new vote for leadership!
Schumer has a 17% approval rating. Not the leader we need.

I found myself nodding along with Rand Paul railing at Congress for abdicating their role in taxation.
Strange times.

I would love for you to be wrong too, but people are still waiting for someone to “come save us”.
Waiting for people to voluntarily play by the rules.

A historian, Tad Stoermer (sp?) points out that Americans aren’t big on collective action or shared risk.
Resistance movements sustain not from moral outrage but if it makes practical sense to take the risk. I wish we could skip the risk/loss/pain- but our under-reaction so far says no

It would be different if they *understood* and were focusing on local community or choosing joy as resistance.
My theory is that Europe, South America and Asia have lived much closer to regime change and political instability- so have better pattern recognition.

I’m telling you they don’t. They have lived all their lives in stable democracies surrounded by stable democracies.
They are expecting free and fair elections and a functional congress to keep running smoothly.

Resign from leadership.
Today if possible, although yesterday would have been better.

A lot of people I talk to don’t. I’ve been freaking out daily since January, but many in my blue state just say “I find politics stressful, so I’ve been focusing on (my family, baseball, whatever) … “
It’s infuriating.

My senator. :)
I’m a 3+ generation US born citizen, but without due process… how would I even prove that?
It’s simple - if anyone here doesn’t have Constitutional protections - NONE of us do.

I have to watch like a hawk for this on YouTube.
My son likes soccer and the algo pushes these sh**ty “Men vs Women’s soccer” videos showing women falling and missing goals.

Yes, we knew this.
This is why you Dems shouldn’t have voted for the freaking budget!!

I read his post as sarcasm- It’s supportive of unions and minimum wage.
Still prefer to vote for candidates way more progressive.

I’m amazed how many people, even informed Democrats, still think normal governmental guardrails will sustain us. Vichey America.
People are in deep denial here.

They also voted unanimously to deport citizens. Maybe we should focus on that!

Same. I remember wondering, “Why doesn’t everyone just like throw the oppressors out?”.
I guess this is my retribution- but we still have to try.

Imagine thinking she’s the future of the D party. She and Chuck can take a seat.

Simpler times. I remember liking both him and his wife- - but that was 20ish years ago.

Yup. Commenters outside the US keep pointing to South Korea as a “why won’t you rise up like they did?”.
The SK president’s own party voted to end martial law and impeach. So far I haven’t seen any US R congress members willing to do the same.

You have a responsibility to meet your constituents, hear our concerns and fight for us and The Constitution.
The fact you didn’t have an in-person town hall during the last recess is INEXCUSABLE.
