Suuucks man I'm sorry! Yea make the most of it, take some time off for yourself and see it as an opportunity to do something better. Getting laid off was hard but it kicked me out feeling like a job I hated was "good enough" to spend my life on and in retrospect I'm glad it happened. Best of luck!

shrug. when you're getting paid to work in your industry on a big compelling known-name resume filler project, ppl kinda tend to say "yes." not a lot of ppl are in a position to say no to a gig that's 2-3yrs of continuous employment until they kick you to the curb unceremoniously after

also building habits around doing stuff that is actual recreation. i used to be such a big movie person, then to get back into it over last couple years i made a habit of watching movies like almost every night. or physical stuff like getting out and hiking where it's impossible to multitask work

You really do have to carve out time for it. For a decade I did “hobby work” as my nights-weekends downtime on top of another job and I forgot how to have downtime. I find it easy to slip back into working every night til 1am unless I track time and have alarms like “log off”

At least with a smaller team there's some kind of direct and sensible correlation where you're rewarded for doing well on a game, and not just like laid off no matter what

Same company that laid off the studio that made Visions of Mana 24 hours after the game launched btw

Yepppp. At first I was frustrated by it, but I honestly came to really like having notifications off to Bluesky altogether. Instead of the constant beckoning back all day I’ve been enjoying choosing to when to look at it, and my app time going down has been overall pretty good for the ol’ noggin

Oh no are they bad? I’d never heard of em until recently but I randomly came across a showroom of theirs while out and about and some stuff looked pretty decent. It’s so hard to get good furniture without dropping all the cash in the world huh…😩

Yeah Dunbar’s number - I think it was conceived before social media so there are some broader categories now as an addendum to it to account for how many ppl you’re capable of recognizing in this newer context. But it’s way less than 12k tho for sure

Recipe was kinda based on me trying to recreate this kind of overnight oat pre-mix I got on sale once, which honestly I mean they tasted good but I felt like I could get away with less sugar and I could DIY it for wayyyy cheaper pranafoods.ca/products/ove...

More importantly what do y'all mix this up in??? I wanna batch make the mix more and been trying to figure out a portion control size for it. I got a pack of Pyrex bowls once I've been using but kinda want something more serving sized

My go-to has been oats, oat milk, chia seeds, and dried blueberries. Milk soaks thru the blueberries so the resulting bowl gets a nice mild bit of sweet throughout without having to add honey or maple syrup or anything. Sometimes I add some powdered peanut butter I got from Costco
