I was trying to stay non-political today, but I have to share this… Our national parks and forest are one of our greatest treasures. I don’t have a solution to this… right now saying write your representative seems not just quaint, but useless as well. #resist #shoutingintothevoid

Eagan and Widget slow down long enough for a photo with one of the big bluestem plants we have been planting on the prairie. #dogsky 🌿 #bordercollie #nativegrass

It’s Back…well what did I expect it’s Michigan. Snow in the night. 14mph wind on my walk. The good part about the return of snow… The dogs went for a run outback. Between mud and ice, Eagan and Widget haven’t gotten a lot of exercise this week. They were very happy and I was cold. #dogsky

Today it’s grey and 52. Mud season. Yesterday’s, moss and lichen find has me intrigued. So here is hooded rosette lichen on staghorn sumac. I also included a shot of one of the clumps of common milkweed pods which has me thinking of warmer days and monarchs. #naturejournaling #milkweed #lichen

Out looking for green today. After so much white and brown I’m desperate for colour. In the prairie I found grey reindeer lichen. In the woods two types of moss that I could only identify by type. One in the feather moss order one the haircap genus. (Seek used) Does anyone recognise these mosses?

Happy #WorldWildlifeDay! 🐺 A day to celebrate the various species that share our landscapes and thank them for the important roles they play in maintainting healthy ecosystems. A world without wildlife is not a world for us.
