We had Russia on the ropes. They were crippled by sanctions. They had made minimal headway into Ukraine. Putin had to survive a military uprising within his own ranks. He was down to pleading for conscripts from North Korea. Then he played his ace in the hole. Donald Motherfucking Trump.

The question it should prompt is whether it's ethical for journalists to hide that fact that they are hedging their coverage of Trump because they or their billionaire owner fear retribution. But, of course, that isn't in the legacy media's interest to disclose.
