Hi- member of vanishing middle class, here. I’m getting reamed by taxes - and it doesn’t help to know that my money is going to a government I no longer trust or respect.

🧵 I just want to clear up some misconceptions about what Social Security actually is and how it works. You, as an individual, do not have an "account" with SSA where your FICA contributions have been saved for when you retire. It's not at all comparable to an investment account.
