We moved abroad and dramatically downscaled beforehand. Depending on where you go, other than some sentimental pieces (a few boxes) and photo albums, almost everything could have been replaced here (UK) for the price we moved it or less..

When I first looked at the pic, I thought the white stuff was marshmellow and believed you had gone too far. Cream cheese makes sense.

Thanks. He was a great Dad for me. He had his flaws, which I think affected my siblings, but for me he was the best.

I felt the same after hearing Chappell's Pink Pony Club a few weeks back.

I posted this elsewhere but I hope your friend has broken up into tiny bits of light that are dancing off into the universe. We love you back.

We did become expats- two households, two generations to the UK. We investigated UK citizenship by double descent after the 2016 as my adult daughter did not feel safe in the US. We made here in 2023.

Dad used to say, "do what you want as all they can do is kill you and eat you. " It really made me think about the worst outcome, and then more clearly assess the likelihood instead of just worrying and being uncertain about taking a stance/action.

Sympathies. I once used Chinese 5 spice in my enchiladas. It was not a success.

Am retired with a pension/health care, and don't need to buy a house, so... Could provide great travel-but due to spouse's health not really an option. (Know how privileged that is.) My daughter's idea would change academia- improve business model of research/publication (if there was enough money.)

Unfortunately, 10M will not be enough. My daughter has this idea of buy a significant interest in academic online publishers (like Elsevier), enough to change their fee structure. This will allow academics to freely access research, or at a more affordable rate, as well as place their own papers.

Yep, I am on the same team. I think back to all my ancestors, many of which lived a long time in comparison to their peers, and congratulate them on washing their hands and noping out when the plague came to their locale.

It is so worth the hassle to become an expat in a safe locale.

Some of us felt this exact way in 2016, and took actions to achieve it. (Now hailing from a small village in the UK.)

With the commodification of higher education, librarian staff positions are looked at as a cost causer, not necessary to the mission. Unfortunately.
