Old nightmares. Back in the 90s, I dreamt I was inexplicably in a motel room with Matlock, and he was trying to beckon me into bed with him. It's not that he was shirtless and possibly otherwise unclad; the unsettling part is his trying to charm me with his come-hither gaze and his boyish smile.

Imm hoe, the "paradox of tolerance" isn't a paradox. It's closer to a bad-faith misrepresentation of tolerance. Tolerance: let people do their own thing, provided they aren't preventing other people from doing their thing. Nazis: their whole thing is preventing other people from doing their thing.

You start with the assumption that what you did was right or at least understandable. You know this to be true because you wouldn't have done it if it weren't right or at least understandable. Bad things happen because other people made the conditions you were doing right / understandable things in.
