Unreal. I'm so sorry. I'm from South Bend, so while this is unsurprising, it's still incredibly fucked up.

You reminded me of my first koshari in Cairo in 2003. So incredible.

I have lived in a lot of places in and out of the US, but the toasted brie sandwich from Lula's Cafe (RIP) in South Bend, IN was really incredible to 17yo me. WTF was in there, it was so good, and long gone.

There's this one lady who was once famous for GF food who is absolutely unhinged and fits in perfectly on Threads. The writing is so diabolical over there.

I used to work on a State program that sent US students to the MENA to learn Arabic. I invited you to come speak to them before they left and you made such an impact on them. Thanks for all you did. This is just disgusting on every level.

Thank you for suggesting this episode. I'm listening to it now, while making dinner, and a box shows up at the door. My mom sent me his book! Thanks again. This is a great conversation.

I have never had much faith in the idea that the political party that barely has any Jews in it and is partly led by a movement dominated by people who say the Jews are going to Hell and is also in part fronted by people who each belonged to dinner clubs that historically or presently bans Jews…

I remember getting ready for a mass act of civil disobedience once, and a guy who was also preparing to get arrested said, "We're not criminals. We're doing the right thing." I told him, "We are doing the right thing, and we are *absolutely* criminals. We're about to do a crime, bro."

A lot of people like to dismiss racism as insubstantial to material realities but we’re watching a nation burn trillions of dollars in wealth to entrench a racial system of domination.

This is so true. I've talked to one reporter @mrsmithap.bsky.social in my whole life and she was incredibly transparent and not sneaky at all about the process. She made me wish I'd stuck with my journalism major too.

This is the text of the email just sent to hundreds of international students telling them that their visas have been revoked due to activism or social media posts.

My friend used to know him. He is not well, went full qanon at one point. This is sad to see. Definitely changed his name.

This is going to be remembered for all time as Columbia’s response to having a student protestor kidnapped and held prisoner by a budding authoritarian regime. It is unspeakable cowardice.
