3 is speaking to my mood today. It’s like ā€˜heh am in the middle of an apocalypse, but you have to be philosophical about these things’.

We like to keep it real when we do the Thirty Years War 😁

Twas direct inspiration for a character - ā€˜the Captain’ šŸ˜‰ I played in a long running ā€˜Flashing Blades’ campaign (a game which I believe @shaneivey.bsky.social also has a fondness for…).

They haven’t even competed against him yet. It was the Dem primary he won. It’s what he represents - an alternative vision - that has them running scared

Cosplaying ?? Surely you mean ā€˜re-enacting’ ? Don’t make me and @orlanth.bsky.social form a two man pike block and hunt yo ass down !

My fave ā€˜bad acting’ story - probably bs - but funny nonetheless is of a supposed stage production of ā€˜The Diary of Anne Frank’. The girl in the titular role was supposedly so bad that when the Nazis turned up, someone in the audience shouted: ā€˜She’s in the attic !’

Venn diagram connecting #DeltaGreen - through Caleb Stokes - and #RedMarkets (also on Drivethru) ā€˜a game of economic Horror’ which has quite a definitive view of capitalism. To name just one more example. Baffling decision

Yeah will be playing that - and there’s a few additional encounters / locations set there (the Misty Vale) on drivethrurpg which I will throw into the mix

Am sure you will be taking the opportunity to get out there and throw some shapes …

I really want to see it. Have read the script and actually did a schedule for the production team but couldn’t work further on it because of a clash.

I’d also cite the ā€˜Shadow’ mechanics in The One Ring. Similarly thematic…

It’s a gorgeous place and loved my visit there - though wasn’t GoT related (I was part of the ā€˜home’ unit - so instead of exotic Moorish architecture and sun kissed Dubrovnik, we got grim quarries and cases of trench foot šŸ˜€)….

I’ve listened to it all already - pretty, pretty good

ā€˜Simon and Garfunkel reflect on decades in the music biz; their often fractured, tempestuous relationship and their forthcoming, long awaited new album, deeply rooted in the rhythms, cadences and fortifying nutritional snacks of North-Western England’s heritage of improvised story-gaming with dice’.

I tell you now. The Centaur CAN use the Horse card to move further. Nothing in the rules we had said he couldn’t, and this is a hill I will die on. Away with your ā€˜sense’….

A very good adaptation of the book I thought; sticks close to the material but not slavishly so and confident enough to make some tweaks here or there

Ex-smoker here. Gave up maybe 25 years or more ago, but still get random moments of craving. Sometimes I catch a whiff of someone else’s cigarette smoke and it seems pretty wonderful. Double that if it’s cigar smoke or pipe-smoke which I associate with my late Dad and grandfather respectively…

As you have discovered, it’s a) not the same But, what they do have in common is: b) a capacity amongst some, and here I include myself, to surpass initial charms and very much outstay an initial welcome.

The film ā€˜Ravenous’ has a cult following, but I found I couldn’t keep watching it because of the score it had

Am taking the optimistic view and seeing it as a sign that the troops involved did not want to be there. Am pretty sure that American troops can drill like the best of them; in fact I saw some of them do so at the Edinburgh Tattoo.

We’ll agree to disagree on that one šŸ˜€ Put it this way, I had utterly forgotten that he’d been in another time travel movie other than 12M…..

That, and many many other TV programmes, comics, ads and public info films is why we Brits and Irish of a certain vintage are as messed up as we are :) Recommend checking out #ScarredForLife books and podcast for further info ….

My wife lived in a graduate shared flat below his place at Roundhay back in the late nineties. Interacted with him frequently, no red flags - so I guess he was in ā€˜don’t shit on your own doorstep’ mode in that neck of the woods. Retrospectively, now a very creepy notion of course.

It’s the American context. Their whole state and constitution was founded in resistance to the notion of the arbitrary power of monarchy. So it has a different resonance. As for monarchy here not being much of an issue - that’s a whole other topic….

Good luck Jim. I’ve been through the experience myself. Envisioning oneself as the protagonist in some sort of sci-fi drama does help !

Recovered now ! Session ended on an adrenaline high - then medicated with a wee dram 🄃 or two, courtesy of our gracious host @amacdon6.bsky.social and day spent mooching about Edinburgh and its game shops.
