Nothing is supposed to be easy, and writing is no exception. Yes, it's supposed to be enjoyable, but every road has its bumps. The secret is to keep going, at your own pace, no matter how many bumps you might need to hit.

As a non-native, I am guilty of having written "rise up," "lift up" and all the other unnecessary up's I can think of before.

This. So true! Reading is supposed to be a fun thing you do because you want to, and in many cases even a safe space for people after a rough day. It's not supposed to be a boring chore that tires you out. Just enjoy yourself!
