In my observation, waiting for the military to step in ends in coup d'etat and several iterations of military juntas, often with human rights violations. Even when the coups are bloodless. Our military and police will not save us. www.lawfaremedia.org/article/avoi...

I love this. I love this so much.

PRO PUBLICA: Of the 238 men sent to an El Salvador mega prison, only 6 had prior violent crime convictions. 0 were on the gang member list. 130 had no criminal history. 32 had minor offenses. All 238 thought they were being sent back to Venezuela. www.instagram.com/p/DKcjM7FPhz...

The pottery studio next to the taco place has had a sign up for ages that says "Could we please give the police to the grandmothers?". It made an unfortunately good backdrop.

I just made bissap (sorrel) with frozen strawberries and minty swamp water (unfiltered mint simple syrup) and my god was it delicious. For me this means it is officially summer.

I joke about WITAOD a lot, but seriously: If you're a reporter (or just a curious person) wondering why “who really runs DOGE?” is a central question in the litigation challenging its dismantling of the federal government — read this piece! www.lawfaremedia.org/article/the-...

A Texas sheriff used 83,000+ license plate reader cameras to track a woman “suspected of having an abortion.” The reason listed in the record: “had an abortion, search for female.”

a society that wants to keep its most basic functions intact needs to discourage baldfaced lying, especially by authority figures

Today, two local men were either seized by the Department of Homeland Security or abducted by imposters, but there seems to be no way to know which is the case, because both have the same MO. dailyprogress.com/news/local/c...

The story of Alma Bowman, a disabled woman and US citizen detained by ICE, keeps getting worse She’s been in the country for 50 years. They took her wheelchair, denied her medications & threw her in a detention facility in Georgia Did you know she was a whistle blower against forced sterilization?

THIS! THIS! THIS!

I urge everyone to read Unbreaking’s new page on everything the govt is doing to destroy & diminish medical research funding. It’s the best thing I’ve read on this topic: @lizneeley.bsky.social & co have such done an incredible job. unbreaking.org/issues/medic...

Dear Editors — If you’re considering publishing an article about issues related to transgender people, then perhaps you should consider assigning that article to a transgender journalist. Don’t have any transgender journalists in your newsroom? @transjournalists.org has several valuable resources:

There's been lotsa talk about Trump and court orders, but one case has gotten less attention: In February, a federal judge — ruling in a case brought by faith groups — ordered the Trump to restart the U.S. refugee program. Three months later, it still hasn't. religionnews.com/2025/05/29/a...

Some women want love. Some seek power and money. Some seek attention and fame. Me? I just want to know who the administrator of DOGE really is. My manifesto, my magnum opus—“The WITAOD Chronicles”—is out now. ⬇️ 👇 www.lawfaremedia.org/article/the-...

The California-born businessman parlayed deep knowledge of Russia’s fuel industry and the unique patronage of an American-themed bar he owned in Kyrgyzstan into more than $7 billion in defense contracts to service the U.S. invasion of Afghanistan. www.icij.org/inside-icij/...

The feds are asking judges in migrant cases to dismiss the case, which makes them undocumented — then ICE takes them into custody as part of an expedited removal of undocumented immigrants. @democrats.senate.gov — hold hearings. We demand answers. ☎️ Call your Representatives NOW: (202) 224-3121

Your periodic reminder that immigration "judges" are employees of the executive branch who, despite serving a quasi-juridical function, can be fired at the whim of the president and AG like most DOJ employees. They are not independent Article III judges.

I also can't stop thinking about "The Parakeet" by Victor Erofeyev that I read 25 years ago. It's a violent, upsetting, hard read. Its plot is nonsensical when explained aloud but it exposes how logic & language is twisted to justify state violence for fabricated crimes & terrorize survivors.

If you're not familiar with Curtis Yarvin's project called RAGE (Retire All Government Employees) & how it causes a "Reboot" to a nation-state ruled by a CEO-Dictator, this is worth your time. The point is that Elon's not just breaking things: there's a *plan.*

The natural progression of institutional neutrality as a value. Not free speech. They adopted these policies to politically shield institutions & leadership, but in practice turns the institution against faculty, staff, & students. Also smacks of viewpoint diversity replacing actual diversity.

Today, I was denied access to seeing my constituent, Mr. Kilmar Abrego Garcia. If there is nothing to hide, cut the crap. Let his lawyer and I check on him.

Around D.C., the new going rate is well-known: $5 million for a one-on-one dinner with Trump, but gov-affairs execs have “no clue where the money is eventually going,” one said. Another told me it’s “outer-borough Mafia sh*t.” My new piece is out @newyorker.com www.newyorker.com/magazine/202...
