I just found out about the existence of @greshamcollege.bsky.social . Founded in the 1500s, this school doesn’t award degrees or have students. Its entire purpose is to give lectures on a variety of subjects free of charge. Excuse my candor but this is punk as fuck 🤘

Y’ALL this is super important - I’m rereading LotR and realized that Rohirrim poetry doesn’t rhyme!! It’s alliterative like Anglo-Saxon poetry. Elvish poetry rhymes, and hobbits and Gondorians (with more Elven cultural influence) write rhyming verse as well. #lordoftherings #oldenglish #poetry #lotr

Just finished this big honkin' series about the unification of England. If you like scrupulously researched #historicalfiction , early Christianity, #Norsepaganism , incredibly detailed medieval battles, #badasswomenofhistory, rough soldiers' humor, and clashing cultures, can't recommend it enough.
