but you tell people that they will die in 30 days..that’s it for “order” right there & then. No one’s going to work, people run off to spend the time w/ family, or hook up, get revenge, meltdown
A story about a team trying to find the man & cure amongst that mayhem seems like it would be good show.

Right, if it was some unknown time into the future, that some % might die, I could imagine that people might think it’s a hoax/continue on in denial after an initial freakout.
The protagonists act so blasé about their mission. To the point where it’s like “if they don’t care, why should I?!

If the timeline had been something like 3-10 years, then it might make sense that they chase down side quests.
Why are people working against them? Why would that Assassin not just go “nah, going to die in 2 weeks, your money’s worthless”.

If this was a show about finding a gunrunner, or a Bebop bounty hunter show, everyone’s attitudes would make more sense, but I find myself yelling at the screen “seriously?! you’re all going to die in 14 days!, why does no one seem concerned? Why is this down to one team & not everyone still alive?

If the world were automated & still functioning w/out people, & they made it into a specific point that people were putting their heads down & ignoring their imminent deaths, that could be an angle to play, but instead I just get the sense that the characters are all just messing around.

If this happened & it was a matter of 30 days, people would stop going to work, many would melt down in numerous ways, those not actively searching for a cure or culprit.
+ even if they find this Dr, get the cure. manufacture & distribution would take months, unless he has a magic Off button…

Yes, the ticking clock is a huge problem for me.
Almost everyone on the planet will die in less than a month & everyone is acting all causal about it. Especially the team looking for the Doctor.

There will certainly be plenty to see this next season given the usual decade jump.

We don’t get that installed until next Tuesday.

There is a new season coming.
This is from 4, though.

That ended up a bit of ramble.
Shorter version, changes in depiction could actually be seen as the Borg changing across the series.
And maybe the Queen’s role in the system changed as well. Basically seizing power & autonomy when once she was just part of an organizational/integration process.

If we look at the Queen’s progression from 1st Contact to Unimatrix Zero to Picard & changes in representations of Borg across the series, from a hive-mind that forcibly suggests you join them (it’s implied they think they’re helping you) to being seen as captured slaves in service to an individual.

One could interpret this (aside from just different writing) to simply be information that was always the case, that we’re learning along the way.
Or perhaps what we could be looking at is change.
The Borg should grow & change if everyone’s being added to the group.
Clearly the Queen checks that

So in FC, they stay fairly ambiguous as to her role, but it’s implied heavily that she’s not really a “being” in the traditional sense, but some extension of the Collective.
In Voyager she’s portrayed very much as an individual, her Consciousness & Awareness is even separate from Collective.

In Picard, she’s a bit like an authoritarian caretaker. She doesn’t have a collective at this point, so we’re not really dealing with the Borg, just her. Although the distinction depends on what one believes her role is.

Well it’s not like we have access to this one to test, however seeing stories like this more and more, leads one to conclude the tech is not quite ready for prime time despite it being pushed very hard into implementation

It’s the “Yet” language that’s getting singled out. But even with paperwork the capacity to hallucinate seems like you can’t trust it. Even playing around with LLMs I’ve noticed how inaccurate the responses are.

Hyped, as I was skeptical they could recapture what they managed in S1. Especially given that production happened during the strikes.
Also think it’s the best designed of the SW series and I’m jealous not to be able to work for this show.

I was very impressed with this film. The world building and details were really incredible.

That episode where that whole species dies from the plague is certainly interesting post Covid.

Agreed, someone of equal chops to Sir Patrick. He played Caliban in one of Julie Taymor’s stage productions of The Tempest that I would have loved to have seen.

Also doing a DS9/B5 mega rewatch to distract myself from the stuff that’s going on…. except it seems to be mirroring it….

It’s horrible that this backwards thought is spreading all over. I had hoped the UK was better than…us…

Another layer is that, what’s sacred to one culture might seem silly to another. But respect means honoring others’ beliefs, even when we don’t understand them—so long as they don’t cause harm.

What I really like about this scene is that it’s seemingly setting up what you think is going to be puerile joke & instead it’s presented as something meaningful and solemn.

I could probably show you enough photos to pretend :)
