“Dear Lord what a sad little life, Jane. You ruined my night. Completely. So you could have the money. But I hope now you spend it on getting some lessons in grace and decorum because you have all the grace of a reversing dump truck without any tyres on.”

“Brexit means breakfast”

I am begging developers to include an option that switches off the inane "there's the door", "the door is over here", "are you going to open the door?" chatter from companions which kicks in after three seconds in games which are, in part, about exploring massive rooms for hidden items.

NHS fun: I've just been sent a patient research survey asking me about how I feel during this "difficult time" with questions about whether the government's change in lockdown rules are making the pandemic easier or harder to deal with. In February 2025.

ICONIC: Yosemite National Park workers just hung an upside-down American flag—THOUSANDS of feet up on El Capitan. That’s not decoration. That’s a distress signal. They’re telling us the country is in danger. Are you paying attention? www.sfchronicle.com/outdoors/art...

The worst part about travelling to the US is that any podcast that downloaded while you're there actually have ads in the ad breaks 😩

"Mean-spirited commentators spent so long treating Milton Keynes as a punchline, in fact, that many of them seem to have missed the fact the place has been a huge success..." On what works, and what didn't, about Britain's new towns.

Having just visited (and been in awe of) Yosemite, one of the things I remarked on is how well managed the place is. It’s an indictment on both the UK of recent years and the new US administration that it can be compared in this way, and on balance one would say “make this more like the bad place”.

Trans people were literally the instigators of the Stonewall riots, and the movement for queer and trans liberation that followed them. To be erased in this way by the Trump-Musk goonocracy is an affront to the memory of Marcia P Johnson and so many others.

Reddit can’t consistently render results for search terms encoded in a URL between the three (3!) variants of its website and its app. …but I’m sure AI will fix all of their search problems.

I just can’t describe how beautiful the Yosemite Valley is. Literally every corner holds a new surprise. The forests, meadows, creeks, cliffs, hikes… even the _roads_ are picturesque.

My “This is not a quid pro quo” footnote is bringing up a lot of questions already answered by my footnote.

With all that's going on in America I think it's time to revisit this classic:

We can’t stop here, this is Bliss country.
