Authors & Publishers posting about illustrated books, pls credit the ILLUSTRATOR. Doing a #CoverReveal? Credit illustrator & designer. Not only are you helping boost artist but it shows people that you or your publisher hired a HUMAN artist. #PicturesMeanBusiness Art @sarahmcintyre.bsky.social

Fruit #StillLife study, focusing on creating a strong underlying value structure. This allows for more playful color exploration without losing legibility. #DigitalPainting

Hello #KidLitArtPostcard! I'm Kelsey King, an #illustrator (and author) looking for work in middle grade, chapter books, and picture books. My work largely focus on the natural world and our connection to it. I'm also currently seeking representation! www.kelseykingillustration.com

I've updated my Starter Pack of #KidLit and #YAlit agents who work with trade publishers: go.bsky.app/U2tLvGj If I'm missing anyone, please let me know!

If you see this, quote with your night/dark art! #kitlitart #bookcovers #illustration

Had a great time in NYC for the @scbwi.bsky.social conference! It was great to meet so many wonderful illustrators and authors. To everyone I met - please stay in touch! I'm so excited to see the work you make! #kidslitart

Sleepover dramaaaaaa (I've been enjoying these quick grayscale drawings so much!) #kidslitart #illustration

It's such a funny temperature outside - everything is melting so the paths are full of puddles, but if you find what looks like a puddle in a substantial shadow it's still ice. In other (possibly related) news, I didn't fall down today and I am proud of myself for that.

GenAI has polluted image search results, especially for animal pics. It’s now basically impossible to find accurate art references. Enter this: a repository of open-access, AI-free images of wild & exotic taxa. Artists creating *without AI* have blanket permission for derivative/transformative use.

Thanks for all the new follows! Nice to see this place so active. :) Most of my new stuff is under NDA, but here's a little tutorial on value control I did back in the day!

Quote your portrait art!

It’s #portfolioDay! I will be scrolling. Illustrators, I’m an executive art director at Scholastic who oversees picture books and beginning readers (www.brianlarossa.com/work/scholas...). Interested in working together? I’ve created a contact form just for you! 🤗 ⬇️✨ bit.ly/LaRossa_Illu...

Hey hey #portfolioday! I've said it before and I'll say it again - I'm looking to do more work in the #kidslit space this year! Hire me to make cool books for some cool kids

Reworking some black and white interior illustration samples as I get my portfolio ready for the @scbwi.bsky.social winter conference in NYC! #kidslitart

Kind of boring--but important! How to train your memory for drawing--start by testing yourself. #art #drawing #tutorials

Put a drawing tutorial I made last year about raptor feet here. It covers some anatomical features and shares my approach to studying animal structures. I hope it will be helpful! #tutorial #animal

You walk through one portal on a school field trip and now you're responsible for the fate of a magical kingdom. I hate it when that happens. #kidlitart #illustrator

Happy new year #kidLitArtPostcard! My resolution for 2025 is to work more in picture books, middle grade, book covers and to find representation!

Annual self portrait painting - 2024 version. Trying to be a bit playful with exaggerating lighting and color with this one!

Art vs artist 2024! Probably the least amount of "personal" art I've made, but I still made so much. It was varied (teaching examples, freelance work, sci art, risos, comics, and more.) It was a year full of growth and I'm hoping in 2025 to pull all of these different directions together!

Artists! Pls pls pls make sure you have your email on your website. Not a contact form, your actual email! I want to tell the publisher to hire you, and I want to add you to our database of illustrators to hire! But I can't do those things if you don't list your email 🥲
