While everyone is thinking about how 18+ voted, here are the results for those that want to see into the heads of grade 4-12 youngsters www.cbc.ca/kidsnews/pos.... Quite the opposite

Nice Sunday read! ai-2027.com

Being able to build simple tools has been so empowering. Here is a reproduction of Jacques Monod's 1942 PhD thesis on diauxic shifts using my handmade turbidometers. Ultra clean signal showcasing textbook catabolic repression, using his exact media. Delighted to share these tools with y'all. ๐Ÿ’š

Excited to see this beautiful work from @bupbuse.bsky.social and @tbharat-lab.bsky.social now out in @plosbiology.org! It maps the ultrastructural topology of the C. glutamicum cell surface, including its patchy S-layer. Delighted to be part of this story.

Social media has been great in helping us identify contaminants or cofactors in the past - Any ideas what this complex might be in our HEK293 FLAG pulldown? (We should put together a repository of common contaminants in different cell types)

GovHK: Come to friendly Hong Kong and enjoy our tourist attractions! All are welcome! Also GovHK: Not you. You can't come in and we won't tell you why, so how about you go home and reflect on what you did to deserve this.

Stay tuned! Will compare MR for #Xray to compare AF2 and AF3 results. This is due to AF3 models after refinement have an insane level of clashes.

Biggest commitment to a 3 second joke I've ever seen

Second tour for one vote just in time for federal one of another! If youโ€™re an immigrant to another country donโ€™t forget to register in the country(ies) youโ€™re eligible in! Every vote counts!

This here makes sense.

Ciao Wiley ๐Ÿ‘‹ Preprints anyone?

Canโ€™t believe its our 10 year anniversary

Excited to share that our work on a family of pore-forming proteins is now live in Science Advances! We show structural snapshots across the entire pore-forming pathway for a cholesterol-dependent cytolysin-like (CDCL) bicomponent system.

I like to share. Is this over sharing? High normal here! www.bbc.com/future/artic...

Agreed! I always find these values presented without any real criticism.

OK we all get that this is literally impossible though, right? Europe and Canada do not have the resources to absorb 75% of US scientists and btw getting jobs in these places was already competitive for the people who live there.

Competitive for anyone worldwide; when I moved to Europe in 2020 I was already acutely aware of how amazing yet competitive it was to get a position here (esp. in ๐Ÿ‡จ๐Ÿ‡ญ). Now, after serving on 8 faculty searches, I have no idea how I made it ... Nonetheless, there are opportunities now! ๐Ÿ‡ช๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡จ๐Ÿ‡ญ๐Ÿš€

Extremely important point from Brad: Europeโ€™s core problem is that both of its main export markets are drying upโ€”each for different reasons, but at the same time. The EUโ€™s best shot to compensate this is to get serious about completing the single market. And to boost demand from within.

NEW: Trump cuts are threatening a standards laboratory who's work on atomic spectra undergirds the entire modern economy. The lab is run by just seven federal employees who have been paying out-of-pocket for their own coffee since 1973. www.npr.org/2025/03/26/n...

Get ready folks! 5-character ligand codes and 12-character PDBs! Time to make the leap to CIF!

Two esteemed colleagues both declared to me to eat more fries and more wine if we need to live longer. Itโ€™s gonna be a great Tuesday! I also hope the cafeteria adds more fried foods to the menu www.nature.com/articles/s41...
