My ex-husband worked for USDS for 2 yrs. I can only imagine how hard the choice was for those folks. Their contracts are already quite limited (1-2 yrs with max of 1-2 renewals depending on branch). The talent they are losing & projects that will shutter will likely mean military & civilian deaths.

As far as Trek convention experiences go, it is the one I recommend over all others if people have to choose and save for any. The price tag is a lot to swallow but the experience is unlike any other.

Rehearsal is key for me. When I'm well-rehearsed, that really helps me in front of an audience.
As a nerdy kid/teen, embracing the character helped a LOT. "It's not me on stage, it's [character]" was a really empowering mantra for me. Costume/hair/makeup/dialect is all like an armor.
