Goldman: "The notion that bc he won an election that he should be able to ignore the Constitution or violate our laws is preposterous. Every president wins an election. That does not mean they get to just make up whatever laws they want ... Donald Trump does not get to decide what the law is."

I was worried about doing this but I feel like our electeds are blowing it

I truly wish him the best and thank him for his service. The Dems now have to demonstrate that they are prepared to forge a new path forward in which leadership is selected based on the range of skills we need to effectively navigate this emergency, not exclusively on “next man up” seniority.

I want to take a moment to thank Drew for taking an interest in my work and putting together such an excellent profile. Most of what I do focuses on highlighting prominent figures and their statements, so being the subject of a profile is a new experience—and a meaningful one.

Well-deserved recognition for one of the single-most talented people on the entire Internet. You all know MeidasTouch senior editor @acyn.bsky.social’s clips. Now learn more about the man behind the posts.

Sure, but what really makes it historic is that this the first time a drop like this has happened due to policies specifically taken by a president with full knowledge that this would likely crash the markets. Totally and intentionally self-inflicted. Unprecedented.

Damn, this bill just introduced by Mark González (LA) and Buffy Wicks (Oakland) would do missing middle style 8-unit zoning with at least 1 subsidized unit *everywhere* in California. This is the kind of laws we need right now. fastdemocracy.com/bill-search/...

“This will go down as one of the darkest days in modern scientific history in my 50 years in the business,” says Michael Osterholm, an infectious-diseases epidemiologist at the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis. “These are going to be huge losses to the research community.”

When I received my endowed chair, I got a literal chair, which I lost in the fire. So thrilled that they remade it for me. 🙏

1. For the past thirty years I've had the best job in the world.
I've had the opportunity to follow my curiosity; explore the workings of nature and society; mentor students and junior colleagues in the same process; and teach generations of students about it all.

The new blueprint aims to help California reach its goal of deploying 6 million heat pumps by 2030, a target it is currently lagging behind. From @canarymedia.com.🔌💡 www.canarymedia.com/articles/hea...

"Democrats have long found the flip phone Chuck Schumer still insists on using as an endearing quirk .... After how he handled the spending fight, many ... are starting to see that phone as a metaphor for a leader who’s out of date and refusing to change as politics changes radically around him."

Last night I wrote up some thoughts about Gary Peters.

"It’s something I’m really excited about — to force some generational turnover and a generational shift in power. That will be a net good for the Democratic Party. Primaries are good. If the incumbents are doing a good job, they should have nothing to worry about."

Trump’s chaos risks tanking the economy. His reckless tariff flip-flops fuel uncertainty, market turmoil, and weaker consumer confidence. Businesses can’t plan and families pay the price. More Trump means more instability. www.politico.com/news/2025/03...

Trump didn't say a word about health care last night. What is he hiding? I spent two hours hearing from Oregonians terrified about what Republican cuts to Medicare and Medicaid will mean for them. When you come for people's health care, you have hell to pay, and this time will be no different.

I guess most people don’t know that when the IRS cuts personnel for audits, they increase the audits on lower income returns cuz the rich people’s taxes are too hard to work with less personnel. But hey at least it’s something else to be wrong & angry about, right?

The idea that the correct conduct from Zelensky could have somehow secured a different outcome from Trump/Vance, who *went into the meeting w/the express goal of demonstrating Ukraine's submission to them,* is ridiculous. Correct from @brianbeutler.bsky.social www.offmessage.net/p/boycott-th...

You’ve heard of bar crawls, but have you tried little free library crawls? It’s so nice to be able to use our neighborhood little free libraries to help find new homes for books my kids have outgrown & to find new books they love! And extra convenient that so many LFLs are near playgrounds. ❤️

Keep calling your reps, folks. I actually spoke to a real person today to voice my opposition to NOAA cuts and the Andrew Tate shitshow. I focused on how the cuts to NOAA are likely going to directly impact services to his constituents with regards to modeling and resource management.

Heat pump technology is crucial for kicking fossil fuels out of homes and has proved again and again that it works even in bitingly cold climates. buff.ly/4bia1Sw

Wet years alone won’t completely replenish them. Aquifer systems pumped hard enough to cause land subsidence—as in the San Joaquin Valley—are permanently damaged, their ability to store and transmit water irrecoverably reduced. They can’t just be pumped full of water and re-inflated. ⚒️🧵

I introduced CEQA legislation (SB 607) to avoid CEQA being used to stop new housing & make other smart changes to aspects of CEQA that turn it into a process nightmare that doesn’t always help the environment. SB 607 will help create abundance of the things that make life better & more affordable:🧵

Just an unbelievable own goal that the party—and specifically Pelosi, who had great strengths as Speaker—put an ancient and not nimble messenger in this key public committee spot instead of @Aoc who is absolutely one of the best comms people in entire party.

Only 6,500 participants have enrolled in a program that has cost taxpayers more than $86 million — a warning for other states looking to impose restrictions on Medicaid in a second Trump presidency. By @savmargaret.bsky.social

I’m sure it’s just my TDS, but I think Trump is proving to be exactly as bad as we said he was going to be and people who acted like we were hysterical should be embarrassed they didn’t do more to try and stop it.
