They act as if they’re the only ones under threat. I guess we shouldn’t be surprised by their bald self-interest when they should be serving the people - who are themselves facing an existential death threat

I would also be interested to see how many new credit union accounts were opened in the last four months compared to the same time in the previous year. I dumped my commercial bank accounts for a regional credit union

We could do more, but this, combined with not shopping Amazon, Walmart, Target, or any of their subsidiaries, is a start

Eat out exclusively at locally owned restaurants, especially immigrant owned; shop first at local businesses for gifts, tools, etc. I am lucky to live where this is possible. Shop local farmers markets and support cottage businesses. Be active in neighborhood buy nothing groups

This is horrendous. My adolescent is alive right now because of mood stabilizers. They are going to kill people - children included. I suspect that’s part of the plan, though

Cool. Blocking access to mood stabilizers will lead to the question of when, not if, my teen will attempt suicide again. Fucking monsters.

but in all seriousness - if anyone has a good source for effective, inexpensive kids’ masks, please share! They seem to be harder to find and a lot pricier!

Never change my last name because it just wasn’t that important to me or to my husband, and shit like this will hopefully just continue to defang weird feudal marriage traditions as more people opt to not make the change, either

with shawl/scarf patterns I feel like you can go pretty far in the bigger department without fear of regrets

Thank you for holding the line!

Was it the racist remarks only, or was that just cover for fear of retaliation following the public uproar? I kinda hope mostly the latter, because that means we are seeing results from the public pressure campaign

@markwarner.bsky.social you need to start asking very direct questions about DOGE, their presence at treasury, the code they’ve already committed to production, and impound violations

Read Only still puts our private data at risk. We need bigger moves, like two weeks ago!

how can there be a concession when these assholes can’t even use the words they mean to say instead of a nebulous acronym?

It’s a great loaf! But it took a while to get here. I found that the crust and aesthetics really started hitting the mark once I started baking in pullman loaf pans

If you are serious about defending democracy you will issue a statement similar to Senator Blunt’s. No more yes votes for ANY cabinet nominees. That’s a first step. Then do the uncomfortable things. Delay, obstruct, use the procedural rules at your disposal! @kaine.senate.gov

If you’re not depending on Amazon due to disability/physical/mental health issues and no available alternative, it’s easy to quit! We did a couple years ago, and honestly, it’s helped our budget and our clutter situation

I haven’t called yet today but have been able to speak to a staffer when contacting the Vienna office

This was my experience as well when calling @kaine.senate.gov local office earlier today!

Let’s be real! It should not go forward at all. Or at the bare freaking minimum until Musk and his squad of destroy boys are brought to heel

that’s a classic! I hope this one stays with you. I knit one ages ago, and it’s such a relaxing project. I’m using my wheel to spin this yarn, but do sometimes use my drop spindle. Knitting was my gateway to all the fiber arts, lol

Right! And this was after he voted to support Rubio, who immediately limited the ability of trans people to travel freely

Civics should be a required course in public education, but I also don’t think we do a very good job as a nation emphasizing it culturally. People feel disempowered and tune out Outschool courses can fill some of the gaps for those who have the time and can afford it, but therein lies the problem …

Or finally install that bidet you bought in 2020 😅
comment in response to post
Had to disengage for a bit today as well and spent the afternoon spinning yarn for a project. What pattern are you working on?

Can we just call a coup a coup?
comment in response to post
it’s fucking disgusting, and children will die as a result. It’s absolutely part of the coup unfolding right now. Calling my reps almost every day, and it feels like I’m just screaming into the void
comment in response to post
This is what you’re fighting back with? We’re watching an unelected shadow president stage a coup across federal agencies and this is what you’ve got? Holy shit

It’s all good, my MAGA brother, who, coincidentally, failed out of community college twice, told me YouTubers are more credible than scientists because they’re not in it for the money. Unlike those greedy scientists and their government funded research.
