Myths & science don't operate or exist in the same landscape, that is obvious, or at least should be.
I mean in the sense of having a very simple story that has been used to explain a complex idea: how humans are superior to other creatures RE cognition and consciousness, but nevertheless related.

My take is that the garden of Eden myth explains evolution. This is where humans became aware of of good and evil, and death. Seems to signal the introduction of meta thinking (being able to think about thinking, therefore being able to change ourselves) and our separation from other animals.
