Sadly, there were no potato chips in the house, so I stress ate a pint of ice cream instead. In my Con Law class yesterday, I observed that we were witnessing a stress test of our constitutional democracy. Apparently that stress test is also affecting me.

I'm feeling cognitive dissonance brought on by the juxtaposition of the commemoration of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and the new executive orders issuing from the new administration. What are you feeling?

The Supreme Court case tomorrow is fundamentally not about gender affirming care, it's about whether or not trans people have any protections under the 14th amendment. A loss in this case would greenlight a torrent of explicitly discriminatory legislation without much, if any judicial recourse.

I've proposed a rule change that would eliminate the requirement that in Washington State court filings, that you have to include parallel citations to US Supreme Court decisions. This change, which will save attorney/paralegal time which should produce cost savings for clients, is long overdue.

I always have a moment of panic when I get to the last step in filing something in the CM/ECF federal court filing system. And this was just for a Notice of Appearance.

Gonna need a Certificate of Good Standing from the Washington Supreme Court. I have work to do in a couple states.
