Also - I noticed the career folks on the signature lines just used the /s/ but without typing in their names directly afterwards. Is that now accepted? I always type my name after the /s/ even with the sig block below the line.

In our current litigation, we hope that the adage, "third time is the charm," does not come true, and that the Court will find, as it did in granting the TRO, that we are likely to succeed on the merits. Anti-Asian Alien Land Laws have no place in our democratic society. Period. 5/5

In 1943, Arkansas enacted legislation forbidding Japanese persons, regardless of US citizenship from owning land. This was enacted to discourage anyone of Japanese ancestry then incarcerated in Jerome or Rohwer from remaining in state. This was obviously, facially, unconstitutional. 4/5

Arkansas Act 636 is the state's 3rd attempt to limit ownership of land by persons of Asian ancestry. In 1925, Arkansas passed a law aimed at restricting land ownership by persons ineligible for citizenship. In 1927, the Arkansas Supreme Court declared it to violate the state constitution. 3/5

TROs are only granted for 14 days unless extended. Up next is the hearing on the preliminary injunction. Looking forward to seeing again the sign I saw on Thursday, Nov. 21. Securing a TRO doesn't mean we'll prevail at the PI stage. But we are relieved to have gotten a respite for our client. 2/5

But if I recall, whoever takes that role dies. Perhaps instead we should be thinking of Dumbledore's Army.
