why is the president the only person testing the limits of his power? everyone should see what they can get away with. what if zookeepers gave helicopters to gorillas? nobody has tried this

Private school fees are currently GST free, and now the Libs want to make them tax-deductible??

Trump is mobilizing 5000 military personnel in LA for at best a few thousand protesters. If a true uprising were to occur with tens of thousands protesters, there's no way they could contain it. They would need 100,000 troops to hold LA alone.

The Ethicist | Our son's lacrosse team has a hazing ritual where they report one another's housekeepers to ICE. One teammate's housekeeper got deported to South Sudan as a result. His parents want restitution since they can no longer get cleaning services for $6/hour. Should we pay them?

the fact that people were told “today you are going to an elementary school to lie to teachers and kidnap kids” and didn’t immediately tell their bosses to go fuck themselves is all you need to know about why ICE should be dismantled

BREAKING: Federal agents in plain clothes and unmarked cars tried to snatch 1st graders from LA elementary schools—told staff they had “parental consent.” They lied. When pressed, they HID THEIR IDS. DHS admits they sent them. This wasn’t a welfare check. It was a test run for a police state.

They have been literally targeting and openly slaughtering journalists in Gaza. Which is where they test techniques. It’s normalised now. Why would anyone expect a press jacket to protect you when the press has been silent on what has been happening to their colleagues in Gaza?

How many millionaires pay $0 tax in Aus, 2025??? 2022 - 60 2023 - 66 2024 - 102 This year's ATO tax stats should drop any day now. Australia is a low-tax country. It's not hard to raise more revenue and make Australia better. @australiainstitute.org.au

Yeah my job is pretty cool. My uniform is a tactical vest that’s two sizes too small and a gaiter I bought in a gas station. They send me to sneak into schools to kidnap little kids because people got mad about having to press 1 for English. The president had to warn everyone to stop spitting on me.

This is Max. He snuck out in the middle of the night and walked 5 miles to get a breakfast burrito from a store that gave him one once. They hadn't opened yet when he got there, but Max was found the next morning thanks to his GPS collar patiently waiting outside for his well-earned snack. 14/10

LAPD when they think nobody is watching

It’s the 2020s, we don’t have to engage with anybody who thinks this is a marketplace of ideas and you owe them a debate, when the reality is that they are a total stranger to whom you owe nothing, who is either bored at work or lonely at home.

I am in downtown Los Angeles right now and it is completely surreal to hear that Trump is sending Marines here. We are listening to mariachi music. People have dogs. There are teenagers here. It is utterly and completely peaceful. Please tell your friends.

The EU could do the funniest thing right now.

this is just a masterclass in why you shouldn’t believe news outlets reporting on police violence. just literally ignoring the most clear video evidence you could ask for. the only thing missing is the guy yelling “shooting specifically that woman now.”

The Century of the Go Bag

she’s like 15 feet away. absolutely that man’s whole thought process was: “I’m gonna shoot that woman”

"Tanner, a chemist at the Univ. of Mississippi working to develop a novel approach for treating glioblastoma, was notified in April that the grant was terminated. “I would like to cure brain cancer,” Dr. Tanner said. “I think that's not particularly controversial.” www.nytimes.com/interactive/...

Four LAPD officers on horseback surround a man laying on the ground, trample him, and beat him with their polycarbonate "saber" batons.

Watch the slow motion: it appears to me that the officers discuss the photographer and reporter before the one on the end fires on them (it looks to me like he's aiming at the camera, not the reporter, but you decide)

Don't we always look forward to heavily armed soldiers bringing peace to wherever they are deployed? Like cluster bombs pacifying a village.

We need multiple forms of protest, multiple avenues of resistance, many ways to be pushing against these horrors at once. There are going to start to be more protests, and that’s good, but we need strikes, slowdowns, document leaks, boycotts. We need loud public voices and refusals to comply.

A friend asked me what the deal was with the Trump administration and Haiti and I said that racists have never forgiven Haiti for the temerity of freeing itself and illustrating that their supremacy was a lie, and everything since then has been about "proving" it can't govern itself.

when it comes to less lethals you don't need ballistic armor, which is expensive bike helmet. Hockey helmets. goggles. football pads or just extra padding if it's not too hot there are always trade offs with armor but please if you go out at least protect your eyes and head.

My dad, who has lived under a dictatorship, knows one when he sees one. His first text this morning is that we are now officially in a dictatorship. It is all pretty grim.

i see you know antifa pikachu but have you ever met ICE out of LA labubu

lmao The Sun has a livestream of the “LA riots” on YouTube and when you click on it it’s a bunch of troops standing around doing nothing you can literally hear birds singing in the background what a time to be alive

Also point this out to anyone you can. These were not planned protests. These were normies getting the supplies for their weekend projects or at a restaurant and saw their servers getting hauled off and were like this is some bullshit.

The lawlessness of the LA protests with people dancing in the streets (Jagger and Bowie are now Antifa terrorists?)

Lots of talk today about the demise of BlueSky. For whatever it's worth, it's been a boon to indie publishers like us. Twitter and Facebook have pretty much silenced us, so the engagement here has, and continues to be, wonderful.

It’s also not a bubble. It’s just a place where a lot of bigotry (alas, not all) isn’t tolerated to the degree it is on other sites. There’s loads of disagreement here over strategies and tactics but the main thing that gets you cut off is naked bigotry.

It is not enough to do everything your abuser wants you to do. You have to make sure you only think what your abuser wants you to think. (And of course this is impossible and you will be punished for it)

This was a crazy story but I’m seeing some wrong info. According to a Chilean interview she did she’s living here legally with her husband here for work. And this wasn’t an ICE arrest— the NYPD wrongfully thought she was part of a group they were pursuing bc they ran her over. And the teen is 12.

Los Angeles: We don’t want the Gestapo to disappear our neighbors. Trump: Send in the tanks. The media: Tensions high as both sides clash.

Strongly disagree

Willi Castro, baseball player for the Minnesota Twins used the trans flag as eye black to showcase his support for our community. I hope he realizes how much this matters for trans people. Especially when the MLB is considered to be a very macho sport. I have so much respect for him. King shit! 🏳️‍⚧️

They can’t police trans people’s bodies without policing cis people’s bodies, and they can’t police immigrants without policing citizens.

Every person on Bluesky should know: * Every post on Bluesky is PUBLIC forever * Every post on Bluesky is archived by ICE, NSA, and many other agencies * Even if you delete a post, it’s already been captured * Judges don’t care if you were “kidding” or being ironic www.404media.co/the-200-site...

This needs as much coverage as protests or ICE raids. Los Angelenos FTW. ❤️🙌

Should be resoundingly apparent by now based on the thousands of examples that there is no form of protest that is peaceful enough that it won’t be met with state violence & that was the case when terms like Law & Order maintained a veneer of integrity despite always being authoritarian dog whistles

LAPD said in the summer of 2020 that they can handle one large protest of 10k but they cannot handle ten protests of 1k. Do with that information accordingly

The most vital thing you can do right now is spread this message offline to normies. There is no "unrest", there's a protest. It has 400 people. LA does worse when the Lakers come in 3rd in a season.

I was an immigration lawyer for about fifteen years. The people I met… the way they wanted to give their absolute best to this country, and then DID. Skills, ideas, beauty, culture… that’s what they bring. America is a nation of immigrants, and immigration is what made America.
