I can’t articulate exactly why yet, but going after cell and gene therapies has a certain extra evil-ness to it.

The monforts are antivaxxer quacks and transphobes. But hey I guess having enough money to own the worst baseball team makes you cool.

Martha Ann??

No no no. He doesn’t embrace miasma theory but actually is a purveyor of the terrain theory of health (also known as cellular theory). Just as wrong and misguided as miasma although very different.

Oh yes, definitely, let’s “munch” the software that’s used to track our breeding and experimental mouse inventory. Also explains why our xerox machine hasn’t been repaired. Our the screws are literally falling out of doors/door jambs. Oh and don’t forget that they turned our wifi off to save money.

Alright everyone, I am going to be THAT MOM and say go on and laugh and make jokes and have a good time but then you have to go call your senators and tell them to vote no on this bill, okay? Okay! Love you! (202) 224-3121

We need more criticism like this of Jared Polis. I loved his push for affordable insulin and housing, but being anti-worker is so true to his multi-hundred millionaire status.

There is a false dichotomy drawn between "the ivory tower" and "the real world," and I'm here to report that in a post-industrial society, your real-world economy absolutely hinges on the university. University towns are factory towns. Universities drive economic activity, not the other way around.

say it again: 4 million people work in higher ed, the largest employer in 10 states, second largest employer in 10 more, and in 60 of the 100 biggest cities ROI for NIH and NSF for local economies is conservatively 4x, often close to 10x demolishing higher education is economic sabotage

To be clear, if this bill passes, it will end all scientific research & medical training in the US. It will close hospitals. It will be economically devastating. Millions will lose their jobs. Call your representatives & tell them to vote fuck no on 15% IDC rates & the rest of this horror show.

What else would you expect from a $400 millionaire?

In case anyone was wondering how research at the VA is going, they turned off the wifi in the research building to save a couple bucks in electricity. But sure not being able to do anything that requires internet is def not hurting veterans.

Dear Apple and Dexcom, I need you to come together and make a CGM-AirPod twofer so I can find my husband when he wanders off at the mall.

So one of the first EOs back in January was about federal employee RTO. Fast forward 90 days and the VA is sending out an email begging everyone to decrease their bandwidth use or use hotspots. One example they gave was to just turn off your camera. This is so unserious.

🙋🏻‍♀️

Serious commentary: fuuuuuuuuuuck Have to joke or I’ll cry commentary: who came up with the acronym STIRRUP for an STI study??

Does @bennet.senate.gov’s mom have social media? I would like to follow her after hearing about her all week from his town halls.

Every time someone says scientists should just move to Europe or wherever, I want to shout that’s it’s not as easy as packing up your lab notebook. What about our mice? Or our freezers full of samples?

More often than not, I’m proud of the campus I work for. Not rescinding PhD program offers and all the departments contributing to an emergency fund to help labs/grant recipients that have lost funding? Well done CU Anschutz. From this morning’s update email:

Loving the R+ training approach from our EHS department.

On the flip side of this: do you think anyone who is charged/convicted of getting an abortion, providing an abortion or (checks notes) being trans in the states criminalizing these things will get their gun rights or voting rights back? Yeah, no, me either. It’s the goal.

And I worry when I have to go down to Douglas county.
