I'm looking for an expert who can speak to the pros/cons of DEXA scans--both for the individuals and at the public health level. Suggestions welcome! 🧪

Of late, I have been reading the NYT obituaries every day. Instead of being sad, I find that it's inspiring to read about the impact people I've often never heard of have had on my own life. Like Joan Gussow, who taught the world so much about eating local. www.nytimes.com/2025/03/08/s...

One of the most powerful moments of the day came from Emily Whitehead who told the story of how she was the first pediatric patient to receive CAR T-cell therapy for her leukemia at age 5: “I stand up for science because science saved my life. And that’s a fact.” @standupforscience.bsky.social

NEW: This is brilliant from Trudeau. "Today, the US launched a trade war against Canada - their closest partner & ally, their closest friend. At the same time, they're talking about working positively with Russia, appeasing Vladimir Putin - a lying, murderous dictator. Make that makes sense." 💥

Today is #WorldObesityDay. #Obesity is a complex condition and each individual faces distinct needs & challenges. A healthier society is possible only if we prioritize community support & stand up against discrimination and stigma 🔗bit.ly/3SAcdeE

So inspired by my friend and colleague Erin Mulvihill Ph.D.'s talk today. Learning about her research and how patient partnership and collaboration are at the heart of her work was so powerful. She is so deserving of the University of Ottawa Heart Institute Investigator of the Year Award. 💙 🌟 👏

This one makes me so sad - I was a big New York Dolls fan growing up. They were considered retro by then, but influenced so many of the bands I loved in my teens and early 20s that it was hard not to fall hard for them, too.

Three years ago, I had the honour of collaborating with Ukrainian dancers from Edmonton via a virtual meeting. They taught me some Ukrainian dance moves, and I taught them some Bhangra moves. I'm sharing the video today in solidarity because standing with the oppressed is standing for lasting peace.

Today marks 3 years since Russia invaded #Ukraine 🇺🇦 ♦️Millions remain displaced. ♦️Countless lives lost. ♦️Thousands of attacks on health care. WHO & its partners continue to support urgent health needs - mental health support, trauma care, rehabilitation, rebuilding & strengthening the health system.

Reading these updates always makes me think about how few students we admit to medical school every year. Revamping the process seems like a really good step towards improving our current healthcare stresses.

This is so important!
