Tax Day reminder that CEOs can write off their private jets and yachts as business expenses on their taxes, but you can’t write off the car you use to drive to work at their companies. This is what tax laws designed to benefit billionaires and corporations look like.

Black mothers in America face disproportionately high rates of maternal mortality and morbidity. We must do more to ensure access to affordable, quality care. #BlackMaternalHealthWeek

Trump is talking about shuttering publications and networks he disagrees with. He's talking about deporting and imprisoning Americans who dissent. This is unprecedented and undemocratic. Wake up America.

Fox News is ridiculous. Seriously?

Today's Hands Off protest in Rochester, NY #handsoff #roc #rochester

Rochester, NY Hands Off Rally.

It’s weird* that the president can just decide to put a huge tax on American businesses without congress even being a little bit involved. * very unconstitutional

Great video from @wired.com on dictatorship. @ruthbenghiat.bsky.social does a great job here. youtu.be/vK6fALsenmw?...

this is so wretched, and doing it under the pretense of fighting antisemitism makes me sick www.nytimes.com/2025/03/24/n...

Today is #WorldTBDay! With the recent setbacks in the fight against TB, it's easy to forget the progress we've made as well, so we're here to remind you: hard work in community with others creates change and empowers progress. Let's celebrate these wins!

Important thread. The lives affected by decreased NIH funding and “Elon Musk said 'The fundamental weakness of Western civilization is empathy.'” He is wrong. It is our strength and responsibility.

Tuberculosis, the deadliest infectious disease on the planet, kills more than 1.25M people a year. New infections are expected to surge by 30% as a result of closing USAID, a memo says. The increase will inevitably lead to cases in the U.S.

Thanks to Rochester, NY’s local news station, WHAM, for coverage of the Stand Up for Science event. @standupforscience.bsky.social 13wham.com/news/local/p...

Great turnout for our @standupforscience.bsky.social event in Rochester. I am glad folks turned out to show their support for science. Lots of supportive honks from passing cars. Science really does save lives and improve our lives. Support for education is critical for growing our next generation.

Friday at 5:30. Third Presbyterian on East is allowing us to park there. Come join a peaceful event to show our support of science and scientists.

For me, fighting fascism has nothing to do with thinking I’ll win. I don’t fight because there’s an inevitable outcome, I fight because I couldn’t live with myself if I didn’t do something.

Hi Rochester, NY science fans. @standupforscience.bsky.social Come join us Friday the 7th on the sidewalk in front of the Rochester Museum and Science Center to protest the terrible cuts to science and research. The event is at 5:30. Bring a sign. Look for street parking nearby.

I love to joke about OSHA (and NIOSH) but every single OSHA regulation was written with someone’s blood

Attributed to Napoleon, who ended democracy in French, this quote was also used by Anders Breivik, the far-right anti-immigrant terrorist who murdered 77 people

the single most un-american and anti-constitutional statement ever uttered by an american president

This is an *incredibly important* story. First this, then this guy was inside the Capitol on Jan. 6. Now he's in charge of the decimation of USAID.

As a Geography major, I taught lab sessions in Physical or Environmental Geography (basically Earth Science) and a session on Remote Sensing (reading satellite imagery). I later moved to healthcare and have a nursing degree. I work in Healthcare IT, but support science and the work of scientists.

The flood of Executive Orders from the White House is overwhelming, outpacing the lawsuits that call many of these acts illegal. Think: Is this by design? Chaos demoralizes people and clouds opposition. Lies don’t justify breaking the law! #TruthBrigade truthbrigade.indivisible.org/s/HZr3l0kb

Very good read.

It’s all bad. And today it’s just hitting hard. Judges have made rulings and they are just being ignored. Essentially, by definition, the United States’ government is broken. But, sometimes it’s the little things that break you. Google renamed the Gulf of Mexico on its maps. Do not obey in advance.
