Skyline cleanse! 🩵 Show me one of your beloved collections! #booksky OK, I know the tag is for books, but these guys inhabit the shelves of my library and my desk: Toby jugs!

What’s your favorite candy bar? Unfortunately, they're not made anymore (at least I don't think they are), but we still have a few and I am rationing them out: Reese's Big Cup Peanut Brittle. Also: Skor, Heath, Mounds, 100 Grand, Boyer's Peanut Butter Smoothie, Take 5, Snickers with Almond.

His book tours never bring him to Buffalo, even when he is premiering his musical about one of two US Presidents actually FROM Buffalo. This city gets NO respect, I tell you! (I'm not even sure he's ON a book tour right now, this might be a con, I dunno, it's early, just go with it)

Good LORD, what a joke Chatterton Williams is. I remember when he was the "Follow him to show how reasonable you are!" person, but I decided he was a joke years ago, so yay, me!

I can think of something else of Mitch McConnell's that I'd be happy to see end.

Share a character who shouldn’t like but you do

Post a female character that you love Dr. Ellie Arroway from CONTACT. Here's an entire scene. Notes in the reply: www.youtube.com/watch?v=K8Se...

For years--all the way back to the 90s, with SEVEN and THE USUAL SUSPECTS--I was a bit baffled at the reverence for Kevin Spacey as an actor. Even before he turned out to be a horrible person, I never saw him as anything more than a thin variation on the same guy.

After some consideration, I think I'm going to be migrating my newsletter from Substack to Beehiiv. I've looked into Ghost and it seems like more of a paid blogging thing than a newsletter thing, and I like my blog where it is, on my own server space that I pay for, powered by Wordpress.

"I hated Biden just as much as you hate MY guy, so maybe--" Yeah, I'm gonna stop you right there, OK? Just hold on a second....[blocks]

Since I've been watching a lot of SCRUBS lately, I will assume she is giving The Todd a "Natural Twenty Five"!

I want my sunken living-room thing! And honestly, I'd take a return to browns, oranges, and avocado as major decor colors over beige/gray/slate. And of course, overalls are back!

Not here for the WGR guys making fun of the Prequels before it's even 8am. And if your go-to snark about the Prequels is the "I hate sand" line, just go away.

The first attack on books by Nazis started with LGBT and “un-German” books.

This was a fun and creepy storyline!

What’s your favorite movie that is about LOVE?

One must be vigilant when eating popcorn while wearing overalls.

So...is Ghost for newsletters, or for websites? I literally do not understand what it's for. I have a website of my own, powered by Wordpress, that I have no intention of ending, but I've been using Substack for an occasional (VERY occasional) newsletter for a couple years now.

Another way the dictatorship might kill you. This is from a friend who is a retired air traffic controller.

Mirrored fits (one with greyhound, which is always a good fashion accessory). Never let it be said overalls can't be classy!

If you can get out and support trans folx they definitely need it. March 22nd Louisville, Kentucky at the main library branch www.lfpl.org/register #trans #lgbtq #lgbtqia+ #2slgbtqia+ #library #handy #renting #Louisville #Kentucky

New on my site: It's Something for Thursday, my weekly music post! Earlier this week saw the anniversary of the birth of the great film composer, Jerry Goldsmith. Here I present a suite from my favorite of his many great scores: forgottenstars.net/something-fo...

Sage advice. From The Outlaw Bible of American Poetry. #poem #poetry #books #writing #mikegolden

If we’re renaming bodies of water based on petty grievances, I propose that this be renamed the Kendrick Lamar passage.

I want a movie with Harrison Ford and Ashley Johnson pointing at each other.

Using the back stairwell. For some reason the new principal decided it needed to be off-limits. Why? I dunno.

Check out this asshole. Oh, and fuck Jill Stein.

I don't know what to make of this Goodreads recommendation based on a book about bridges, roads, power and water infrastructure....

This is beautiful

New on my site: Need some Super Bowl trivia for your party? Wnat to impress someone by knowing who the highest-rated losing QB in Super Bowl history was? I've got you covered! forgottenstars.net/super-bowl-t...

Tremendous insight throughout this piece. Since the writer produced this for another publication that then killed it without paying a kill fee (which is immoral imho) you should take this opportunity to subscribe to their self-published work

I liked my look today....

Republicans are just shitty. They're tiny-minded shitty people.

One tiny, private act of resistance: reading long, old books. Feels subversive to a) pay sustained attention to b) something that can't be monetized.

I'm not sure which I want more, the food, that glass, or that table.

1. I quit interacting with film music fan communities online years ago, and this thread on one of those forums--about the John Williams documentary on Netflix (the thread is a few years old, starting when the project was announced)--provides a good illustration of why I stopped. (Link in thread.)

New on my site: Happy birthday, Maestro John Williams! (A repost, admittedly, but great music doesn't stop being great.) forgottenstars.net/happy-birthd...

My 12 favorite scores by John Williams! 1. The Empire Strikes Back 2. Schindler's List 3. Close Encounters of the 3rd Kind 4. Nixon 5. Star Wars 6. E.T. 7. IJ and the Temple of Doom 8. Raiders of the Lost Ark 9. Far and Away 10. HP and the Prisoner of Azkaban 11. The Patriot 12. Revenge of the Sith

I wonder if there are any historical events that might shine light on where THIS is going.... www.npr.org/2025/02/07/n...
