I should add I didn’t really have super strong feelings about either thing cause teachers are overworked and we were just gonna teach them anyway but I just find it interesting how something that was beaten into my head as a lost art has been taught to both my children in

And both of them have learned how to read a clock, and how to read/write script with several different teachers, in several grades, in different school districts.

I agree! Our open concept home was in a warm climate but I was always dressing like it was 20° cooler than it was and having to change cause the house would trick me.

Yeah I really enjoy having a separate kitchen space now. The only positive was that when my kids were babies it was convenient to see them and have all the space for high chairs etc *but* I’d also argue as a new sleep deprived mom it added to the exhaustion being so overstimulated constantly.

It was overstimulating in every way. Auditorily, whatever was on the TV took over the entire first floor, visually I could see my work desk from the kitchen, &see the kitchen dishes that needed to be done from the couch, &physically when cleaning the whole first floor was 1 room.

I hope so, after living with an open concept floor plan new build for 7 years I can’t tell you how much happier I’ve been in our 1950 cape cod with walls and divided spaces.

Apparently my way of coping this week has been to take out all my stress on my kitchen.
