You can listen to @mylesobenza.bsky.social @danreb.bsky.social and myself talk at length about our experiences. I am so excited for everyone to dive into this game.

I love that armor is no longer locked to male or female characters. ALL characters can wear ALL armors!
I have never been more enthused to try so many different weapons outside my normal wheelhouse.

The more I’d work on it, the more I realized how well it fit 😂

I'm putting together a SECOND list of people on Bluesky who write about games (reviews, investigative pieces, or whatever else)
Apparently the limit is 150 people per pack 🙃
If you want to be included, reply and I'll update it 👍

It's bittersweet too given what happened to the team, but to those developers I applaud the work you did and loved every bit of this game. It's my #1 game of 2024.

I'd imagine how those stories could be such epic movie franchises or crazy games. The Lost Crown was probably the first time I felt an inkling of what that could actually be like.

1. Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown by Ubisoft Montpellier
This game was made for me. So many games this year could have easily been my #1 spot but no game hit me on a personal level like this game did.
My dad would always tell me stories from the book of Persian mythology the Shahnameh.

2. Astro Bot by Team Asobi
There's a formula that Mario games have, it's like a secret sauce or something. I think Team Asobi cracked that formula because the joy and creativity in Astro bot was absolutely on another level. I was smiling nearly the entire time I played this game.

3. Balatro by @localthunk.bsky.social
Much like Helldivers 2, Balatro consumed me this year. My love of card games and roguelikes aside, this game is so fun!

4. Metaphor ReFantazio by Studio Zero
In a year filled with RPGs a plenty this was the one that resonated with me the most. (might go for my 3rd playthru soon) The world, the characters, the story. And the rpg class system to boot was icing on the cake.

5. Neva by @nomada.studio
This game is just beautiful. full stop. It was one of the shorter experiences but it left one of the longest lasting impacts for me this year with what I played.

6. 1000x Resist by @sunsetvisitor.studio
(the other game that surprised me this year)
A lot of what I experienced reminded me of games like Kentucky Route Zero, Nier Automata, Evangelion, and such where you really thing on some of the heavier sci fi ideas out there but routed in personal stories.

7. Nine Sols by Red Candle Games
(1 of 2 games that surprised me this year)
I heard about this game and how it was like a Metroidvania, it seemed cool. When i finally tried it, i was shocked how much it grabbed me. The Metroidvania as cool BUT the story, omg the story was so much more.

8. Helldivers 2 by @helldivers2.bsky.social
The fun I've had in this game. Some of the best moments playing games and with friends this year stemmed from my hours battling hoards of enemies in chaos and lunacy for Super Earth

9. Animal Well by @animalwell.bsky.social
No game this year made me question how the game was played more than animal well (in a good way!)
similar way to how BG33 and BOTW challenged what exploration meant, so does Animal Well and it made for one of the most unforgettable experiences this year.

10. Another Crab's Treasure @aggrocrabgames.bsky.social made one of the most memorable experiences for me this year with their game. I loved the levity and charm they brought to a genre that is often so gloomy and grim. Bringing a game that brought the laughs as much as the challenges was a treat!
