Me and a few friends did too! Was really fun and heartening to see so many other people

Recently wanted to look at a dev’s progress reports for a certain game - turns out they deleted their posts and their account is empty. Understandable, but really a shame. We gotta move back to personal blogs/websites

It’s so infuriating - there are better ways to convey narrative and character personality than an on-rails walk n’ talk.
This trope has gotta die immediately in games where the core loop does not involve walking
Let me play the god damn game!

Follow up: Why is the writing in so many video games absolutely terrible? Devs are so scared to have any kind of friction between characters. In Monster Hunter, everyone is optimistic and ready to accept others, which is fine, but incredibly boring.

In PUBLIC? I would have struggled not to laugh

Gamefreak seems like they’ve designed themselves into a corner with the base battle mechanics.
I’d be happy with a complete rework but I know they’ve got a lot of monetary pressure to keep it the same. At least catching pokemon in the overworld got a fun shakeup in Arceus.

I would personally love a revamp to the AI that actually challenges your play style, forcing you to consider the kind of choices you’re making in a more meaningful way. imo, status effect moves are almost always completely useless.

Update: They blocked me, so likely they are a right wing troll. Tread lightly, folks.

I perused their account. In my estimation, they’re either trying to subtlety sow division or, in the kindest way I can suggest this, need to take their medication and get off social media. Probably best just to mute, in case they’re genuine.

@wilnyl.bsky.social I remember seeing your WIP posts last year, the game has come crazy far and feels as good to play as it is fun to watch. Cannot wait to buy this day one.
You and the rest of the team have something really special here

I do have an additional question if you’re willing to answer, though.
Do the waivers apply to the 3 non-union job limit? Also, are these waivers common, and is there a possibility they are not accepted by SAG?
Apologies for the lack of knowledge, a lot of this is new to me.

Great explanation. These things always have to be so darn complicated, huh? 😅
Hope everything works out well for all the parties involved.

Thank you for the information!
Reading through the fine text, it looks like once a non-union member books a union job, they have to join following a 30 day period if they apply to another union project?
Would this limit jobs for people who can’t/don’t want to join the union?

Not doubting you, but do you know any of these projects off the top of your head? I want to read more about how SAG has handled these things in the past.
Couldn’t find anything in my cursory search.

Yeah, after reading a bit of the context surrounding it, it seems like a weird hill to die on.
Supergiant is already an incredibly generous employer even considering how low the bar is in the industry. It seems like it would have a negative impact on non US and poorer VAs who can’t join SAG.

@benstiller.redhour.com I wonder if ben stiller can convince my mother that mark S is pregnant ;)

I justified it by explaining how, just like Mark Scout forced existence on his innie, so too will Mark S. grapple with bringing a life into the world without their consent for his own emotional convenience.
Also Lumon does weird biology stuff so they can make anyone pregnant.

It’s a game I’ll always come back to every few years. I remember first reading about it a game informer magazine with a shitty 140p image of a crude castle and knew instantly I had to buy it. Best 20€ I ever spent

Saw a really interesting point yesterday: people with glasses are disabled.
I had never considered how I wouldn’t be able to do basic stuff like drive or read a whiteboard. Most people don’t think about it because glasses are so ubiquitous and accessible.

I was confused at first so I had to do a little digging. Was annoying tracking down all the info.
Anyway the connection is that

Funnily enough, every nintendo game I’ve played in the last decade has not had this problem at all. Seems to be an exclusively a sony problem… 🤷♀️

What kind of questions should we ask? Game design, asset creation, programming, etc?

It’s a really interesting game. Probably the most unique 2d game in the series. Also some great music and fun combat

Vehement aversion to cringe has ruined people being genuine, made worse by irony poisoning. Over the last year I’ve made a concerted effort to engage more with genuine content

Thought I was alone in this. Even though I grew up with and love them they always felt so… restrictive. Like they had unrealized potential. I began realizing this when I first played the original LOZ and then botw really cemented it for me.

How to end a song. It’s always the hardest part of composing for me. Do I end in a simple cadence? Fade out? There’s so many possibilities but only one ending. Beginning songs can also induce choice paralysis.

It’s the worst when you have someone with you who is used to doing that so you now have to be both mindful of your own position AND someone else’s. So many times I’ve had to explicitly say “hey come join me on the side here so the people behind you can pass” and they’re like “huh?”

Oddly enough it’s mostly Sony. Do they even care about utilizing gaming as a medium any more?
