In this case, contact ABI for help, maybe they can help you to figure out what's wrong with connection to the servers. It's only a thing i can advise here. But if you able to, clear DNS cache on Windows and on router (if applicable) as first step.

It's might match timing of switching to new servers, as at December 12th, they had disruption in the services to add new region (AS / Asia). So it's might happens that connectivity to new US Server not ideal for you. They did in fact mentioned, US server are in different state now.

Just by the chance, did connection issues started since they switched to new servers to introduce new Asia region? If so, it's might be worth to ask support to figure out what kind of problem it is

Generally, it's recommended to do it by hand, as converters tends to break things for you. But if you are familiar with avatar making in VRC, should be relatively easy to do in CVR.
