I can still look out the window this morning and enjoy the beauty of it. That gets harder to do by the end of February :)

My time on the bird site was similar. I'm not so different on social media than I am IRL - stand near the wall, watch what's happening, try to find somebody who appears friendly, get up my nerve, and engage. It's harder to do when there are ten thousand people in the room 🙂

Mastodon isn't devoid of spammers, but they're easy to spot. Especially in those communities that I tend to focus on. Unlike IG, where I somehow have 450 followers and have never once posted anything.

To be fair, I haven't actually done much of anything here yet. Happily lurking...😀

Maybe it's my own mortality knocking at the door. At 17, I had a different attitude - if I started reading a book, I forced myself to finish it. Today, if I don't find joy in those first fifty pages, I look at the ponderous size of my TBR pile and move on 😀

Sadly, the opposite is true. At age 17, I read everything I could get my hands on: the visceral (e.g. Herbert), the fantastic (Tolkien), the literary (Joyce). Today, unless I've specifically agreed to edit or beta read, most books get about 50 pages to pull me in.

Meh. The made-up people who live in my head and stories are not being terribly nice today either. I'm sure I heard them snickering as I was trying to fix some plot holes in the WIP.

I write and narrate for a horror podcast (@sinisterminutes.bsky.social); keen to be added if you're still doing that.
