Both... Scientists are driven to publish because the grant system "demands" it and their institutions then push out BS promotional press releases. Journalists are driven to publish, so they copy and paste from the press release because most are inherently lazy...

However, it is well known that the US macro economy has been quite good. Problem is that it has not translated in a meaningful way to the working/middle class who only see things like continuing large price increases. The progressive "elites" do not get this and offered nothing.

Correct. Only in very special circumstances can an ordinary common word be trademarked. It would need to have been in constant use by the applicant for a very long time and the goods/services it applies to would need to be very narrow. An example is "Windows" which Microsoft took years to trademark.
