Of couse part of it is that when someone is alive, you can yell at them to do more - they're politicians, it's their job. I don't know if this is a "give us flowers while we live" or a "if it wasn't working, they wouldn't try to stop us" but... been seeing a lot of different takes today.

Had a patron suggest we add MORE decorations to our Pride display (yay I guess?) and other displays, and I'm like, ma'am, half our staff is either out sick or on vacation during our busiest time of the year, we don't have time for that.

was that the Left Behind kids editions, or a different post-apocalyptic Christian series? bc a family just asked for that at work and I was like ".... we don't carry that one (dated, niche audience) but I can see if we can find it through ILL?" bc if so... THAT'S how it ends?

I think that's why animal stories like Warrior Cats and Wings of Fire are so popular with kids - the characters are adult enough to do cool things, but they're not like Adults.

Yeah, I feel that way about the Missy Piggle-Wiggle. Kids like weird adult characters! You don't have to make them kids to make them more relateable! They're relatable because they act like children but have adult agency and show kids that they don't have to resist growing up, they just choose how.

The originals were funny because they starred a grown-up acting like a child in a relateable way! and causing chaos! The new ones aren't nearly as chaotic and give a sort of "making fun of autistic people" vibe.

except the latest incarnation of Amelia Bedelia is a modern day child and I feel very uncomfortable with it.
