Yeah sure... Another violent attack on the nation's capital will surely result in a progressive win in the next election... We have to practice what we preach here. Conservatives take any chance they get to point at a liberal saying stuff like this and say "see they would do the exact same thing!"

People need to realize that more partisanship isn't gonna solve our problems. The mob mentality in a lot of these comment sections just feel like MAGA but blue

I'm not in any way suggesting that we look away. In fact, I think we should be paying very close attention to their every move. You can acknowledge what it looks like and has the potential to turn into, while still admitting that we aren't quite there right now.

Damn that's actually crazy. I'm hoping that this is just another one of Musk's awkward gestures, but considering his past statements and support of the AfD, I doubt it.

It is hyperbole. There are definitely concerns to be had over how closely their administration's statements align with facist ideals. However, The word "Nazi" is specifically in reference to the actual german political party. Facism does not inherently mean Nazism.

I immediately started looking for this as soon as he started talking about westward expansion.

Jimmy Carter signed the Torrijos-Carter Treaties as a way to show the world that we are an imperial power no longer, and we are not going to repeat the mistakes of our colonial mother country, but it seems now that we've grown tired of that ideal.

They’re a newspaper company. They make money selling newspapers. I don’t see the problem

Additionally, student debt relief has immense benefits for our gdp outside of the purse spending itself. educationdata.org/what-happens... we could see a potential 1 trillion dollar increase in GDP over the next 10 years as a result of these programs.

The pure act of the government spending money directly raises the GDP. GDP = Consumption + Investment + Government Spending + Net Exports.

Fr. I feel like many people who initially felt deceived by the media after they learned of the true civilian toll in Gaza developed the mindset of “anything the west tells me about Gaza is a lie” leading them to genuinely think Hamas is for the best interests of Palestinians.

President Biden did admit that he’s been in close contact with Trump’s team during negotiation, which makes sense as Trump will be the one enforcing whatever agreement they come to. However, the agreement is HEAVILY based on Biden’s earlier proposal in may. Meaning trump shouldn’t get much credit.

It’s because they’re an opinion outlet. These are the same type of headlines you’d see in the opinion column of the New York Times or Washington Post. There’s a difference between an op-ed and journalistic reporting. There’s a need for both of them but to act like they’re the same thing is dangerous

I am actually surprised by the amount of people I’ve interacted with that were willing to take a step back rather than double down, it gives me hope that this platform won’t go down the same hole twitter did.

Some threads on here are extremely hostile, I wouldn’t go as far as to say blue sky is immune to being an echo chamber. This is of course a subjective experience, as I spend most my time on here telling people to slow down and think critically which results in me receiving more hostile reply’s

I feel that kids find using desktop computers to be clunky and slow compared to their phones which discourages them. If we teach them how to zip around the OS efficiently they’d be much more interested in using desktops over their smartphones not just for work, but for all of their computing needs.

This is all part of English class, but kids find it boring and don’t care. So the problem isn’t that we don’t teach it, but rather our current curriculums aren’t engaging enough.

If we're going to criticize the right for denying the results of a free and fair election based on completely baseless claims, we have to hold ourselves to the same standard. There's no reason to believe that the 2024 election was stolen. If you have evidence then present it

Lets say he does that. What precedent does that set going forward? Do you think that Trump's base who already see themselves as "victims of censorship" and see the left as "corrupt authoritarians" will become more open minded?

TIME person of the year is given to the person who "for better or for worse" had the greatest impact on the events of that year. Just look at man of the year 1938.

He did say this though: “They are the ones who have to win it or lose it. We can help them, we can give them equipment, we can send our men out there as advisers, but they have to win it, the people of Vietnam, against the Communists..”

The Coup in south Vietnam happened just weeks before JFK died, so we have no idea if he would’ve escalated.

Do you want to stop people like trump from getting into power? Because by spewing baseless hatred you’re only validating the way trump voters see liberals as “insane hateful people who believe in fake news”. Civil discourse will open their minds to other ideas outside the trump echo chamber.

These are the exact type of posts on Twitter right now. Is this rhetoric helping republicans open their minds? Do you want blue-sky to be the same echo chamber of hate but blue edition, or do you want it to be a platform of civil discussion where we can all become more informed?

This feels less like Zuckerburg supporting trump, and more like a last ditch effort to save himself from Trump's wrath. In 2020 trump said that Zuckerburg conspired against him to rig the election and recently said that Zuckerburg could "spend the rest of his life in prison" if he does it again.

You're being hateful because an 18yo *might* be a bad person in the future. The animal abuse story is from 1 guy on twitter who claims he was Baron's Nanny and not a single news outlet is running it because it is unsubstantiated. Same for the other allegations. This feels like Twitter

For sure, I talked about this to another person in this thread (they deleted their account :P). Huber had insane domestic violence charges, and Rosenbaum was a pedophile. I wouldn't say Grosskreutz was horrible, but recklessly handled his firearm (2nd time btw) and got the expected outcome.

Many people may choose to dislike him just because that's what the rest of their party is doing, which is poor reasoning and leads to wrong conclusions. I'm stating the reasoning behind the conclusion that many people well informed on the issue came to, which I don't think is a hot-take.

Why are we hating on Barron? Maybe the kid just wants to spend time with his mom? The fact that his dad is whining because Springsteen called him an "American Tyrant" and he still chooses to go to the concert anyways shows that he's at least somewhat open-minded. His adult life has barely started.
