Another Fixation change has arrived! Surprisingly quickly, too. Entering a Superhero Fixation! Which means returning to writing and drawing the Infinite Genesis project!

I'm going to keep going with writing updates even though I'm now in a Dinosaur Fixation and I'm not super active here. My untitled dinosaur time travel story (which is more serious than the picture implies) is at 11,496 words, about 2k of which were written this week.

Into a #Dinosaurs Fixation now. So I'll soon be researching the JP films, plus watching Chaos Theory, and revisiting old favourite Dino documentaries. Probably going to reread JP. And I've got a couple of non-fiction books to read. It's going to be a good time — plus, I've got Paleo Pines to play!

I've decided I'm going to replicate an "experiment" from a couple of years ago: to set aside a whole day to engage in some #WorldBuilding — creating (the foundations of) a whole new #Fantasy world. I've already got ideas, but now it's time to set those ideas down properly. Doing this on Wednesday.

This week's #WritingUpdate as I write up my handwritten draft — and make little changes along the way. Not as productive this week as I would have liked. Unfortunately I got distracted by the rising tide of fascism that can only mean bad things for the entire world.

Today I learned that, according to one Aztec myth, the moon is dull (compared to the sun) and cratered because ... Well. Because one of the gods threw a rabbit at it. #Mythology

A while ago I wrote a short weird fiction story entitled "A Model Lie", which explores the power of lies and delusion and how they can become real. I don't know what to do with it currently so I'm offering to let anyone read it, free, who likes the weird and Ligottian. #HorrorWriting #WeirdFiction

Haven't promoted this in a while. my Cthulhu Mythos novelette with the trans guy PI and a villain you'll love to hate is pay what you want. As a trans guy myself I'd appreciate any show of support right now. Good luck y'all #booksky vincentlore.itch.io/the-darkness...

I'm working on what is essentially just an outline / summary of an event from the lore of my fantasy world, and it was supposed to be quick ... But I'm still working on it! I always come up with more ideas than I'm prepared for.

Because I'm a bit lazy, I still haven't told Amazon to stop the ebook being free, so... Fifteen stories of weird fiction and cosmic horror, exploring themes of isolation and "the other". There's even a madness-inducing book! #HorrorBooks

This week's writing update! I am making steady progress writing the first novel set in my epic fantasy world — more accurately, typing up the handwritten draft and finding myself incapable of not making changes along the way. I'm enjoying the process and looking forward to planning Part Two.

thats ok im already fluent in anxiety

Looking for either reputable non-fiction books on Aztec, Mayan, or Incan myths and/or history or Aztec, Mayan, or Incan-inspired fantasy fiction that's respectfully done. Own voices go to the top of the pile. Not looking for books with a romance-focus. 🪐📚💙

Trump's new portrait is ... terrifying. Why is it so close-up? Why is the lighting so bright? Why that face? There's an intent to intimidate behind it — when history discusses the fascist overthrow of the USA, that photo will be synonymous with it.

Question for the fantasy readers and writers 🪐📚 In my WIP, the official title of the Gods is the "Tumara". I've been somewhat alternating between the two, but should I commit to "By the Tumara/In the Tumara's name/etc.", just call them the Gods and remove "Tumara", or continue finding that balance?

My latest #worldbuilding distraction (but, at least, one that is pertinent to the project I am writing): Writing an Elven lament spoken after they have slain a fellow Elf, be it in battle or as execution for a crime (a murderer Elf probably wouldn't use it). Something short but meaningful.

In my WIP novel, Doomprince, I refer to the protagonist as a Knight. This, however, is just the closest available translation to his rank in the Kingdom of the Döhmlaxen. His true title is "Ssentur" ("ss="zz" like in "fuzz"; "ur" like in "urban") a contraction of "champion warrior".

I don't know if this means my fantasy is too derivative of the Professor, but I really want to give names to parts of Araz's history in the same vein (but in my own languages) as "The Silmarillion", "Ainulindalë", "Akallabêth", and so forth. I think I'm getting there, to be fair. #FantasyWriting

My current read: Krondor: The Betrayal by Raymond E. Feist Feist is probably one of the authors most responsible for my love of the fantasy genre. Any other fans here? 🪐📚

I'm going to start sharing my weekly #FantasyWriting updates here as well as Instagram. Here's the latest — I accomplished 10k words this week.

Can horror books do good whilst entertaining us? I certainly hope so! That's why I curated the "Terrible Lizards" anthology, raising money for the RSPB. We raised almost £250 last year — hopefully we can match that in 2025. Pick up your copy! 📚😱 mybook.to/jTS3Z
