Like there's plenty of "centrist" Democrats who dislike the further left, but it's not like the whole party is some deliberate effort to squash and subvert leftward political movement in the US. Sometimes they're just stuffy or stupid.

Like there's been especially in the Republican party a sort of political gravity this direction for a while. But even on the left there's a tendency to treat this all as deliberate individual actions, and not just people reacting to their environment.

Oh absolutely. W Bush and post 9/11 definitely helped get us here. Also this has been a disturbing trend since Regan, and I'd argue since Nixon. However, there's those that act like this was some government-wide setup since because they're all crypto-fascists, and not oblivious or incompetent.

Apparently something you don't need to comment on.

I'm not going to speak for someone else, but I think you might be reading things into that statement that just aren't there.

What do "senior politicians" have to do with this conversation?

I had a number of people in my own social spehere, who when hearing about Trump's fascism back in 2016, were either convinced it couldn't actually be *that* bad, or that we were already dealing with fascism, so "how much worse could it be?". I know what I heard and what I saw.

I mean yeah. Bad stuff come from all over for all sorts of reasons. Wanting some singular, simple, "root cause", or "ultimate evil" is the kind of oversimplification that gets you either conspiracy theories or deciding someone else's struggles or concerns aren't real problems well, not like yours.

I'm not disagreeing, it's not meant to be an exhaustive list. Neoliberalism has definitely been a major negative influence on a ehole lot of things. That *also* doesn't actually make it fascism, or the same as fascism.

I mean I can't read minds, I'm guessing and extrapolating from my own tiredness from the arguments, but I've litterally had people argue that actual progressive social policies, like marriage equality or affirmative action were just a veneer over fascism, because cops existed in society.

Also fascism isn't the only bad system, or bad thing, and you don't have to make every bad thing into the worst bad thing. Oligarchy is also bad. Conservatism is also bad. Capitalism is also bad. That doesn't make all of those *mearly* diet flavors of fascism.

It's a kind of "boy who cried wolf" problem, where when the problem didn't turn out as bad as they were told, or life just went on, or some things even got better, why believe *this* time it's a serious potentially existential threat.

It's the "everything I don't like is fascism" problem. Honestly I think there were a lot of peripheral people who, would have jumped at the opportunity to fight Trump's fascism, if they hadn't already been asked to jump to fight the "fascism" of everyone else several times over.

Listen, it looks like pictnofibers were homologous with feathers, so we can just dispense with the pretenses now. They're all just really weird birds.

Okay, but think about how interestingly they would sort the cardboard that way.

Okay, but like just instruct your assistant like some inscrutable benefactor, foregoing all specifics, using obtuse allusions and giving mathematician's answers when questioned. No need to violate the NDA that way.

First, IIRC Pathfinder has an archetype that I think does exactly that.
Secondly, having that be their *thing*, but in fact being a straight-up wizard or other caster, would be a hilarious choice.

That's because those were neutrinos, not photons. Easy mistake.
