in the event you manage to find this in the flood of replies/reposts, tysm💚! here are some character concepts for a gamedev rpg project i'd like to realize eventually. they're not real yet, but ive grown attached to their stories.

are they even entertaining the idea of taxing america's richest billionaires/corpos, or cutting military spending like at all? ..or is it just defunding/freezing insurance, health/research, social security, dept of education, fda, etc they're gunning for surely oligarchs put people before the money

i too broadly agree, i will say tho, games are imo inevitably prone to more issues than other mediums, for many reasons, in particular the juggling of attention/resources between programming, gameplay, art, and writing. bug fables to me is an example of a great game that did a lot with what it had.

i'm no expert on SMG but whenever rainbow mario touches most enemies it launches them before triggering a death animation. for items to react this way i imagine they share similar actor code (for interaction/movement,) and upon touching rainbow mario they launch, but do not play a "death" animation.
comment in response to post
i believe this only happens when invincible mario touches it, and enemies/other actors just pass through it.

his analogy doesn't even make sense; "like a chef that can only make frozen pizza" what does a chef, er cook do?.. they MAKE food. to make food you take base components, and make something new using tools & utility. did you FORGE the cuttlery? CONSTRUCT the oven? probably not. you're still a cook.

i forgot how fun it was to go to a theater and see high stakes insane spectacle, to get immersed in the story. nothing wrong obv just watching a flick on your tv, but it really is a different experience going there and being IN the movie.

(clarifying that obviously great gamed exist on VR, but when compared to any other competeting console on the market, it's no contest; VR is not a competitor. whether or not it "should" be is an interesting debate, but outside of standouts like Alyx, VR needs games to carry it's price point.)

VR in prospect is exciting, but imo there lies a problem: what we anticipate VR to be, vs the state of VR. there have been developments yes, but a lack of "true games," opposed to tech demos or refits, presents an impression from players and developers that VR is an novelty, versus a platform.

yea that's been about my experience on most social apps. i've never really had a strong pool of friends online or irl, whether it be because i have difficulty with communication/social interaction, or because these communities arise / are manufactured in a way that is difficult to integrate into.

holy hair, it looks great so far! ive tried many times but always give up. maybe 3d reference would help me understand it better.

the one problem i have to fix is that any change to the variable "resets" the animation, which looks weird when you can spot it. planning to ignore just it for now as I'm trying not to focus on cosmetics *too* much as i hash out actual gameplay and stuffs.

it is complicated but could stand to be way better / more complicated. basically it's a texture, and the uv coordinates are shifted with a panner node(?) via convoluted dynamic material shenanigans which allow me to set a parameter "direction" (value) using WASD input in conjunction with branches.

THE FUNK?? THAT IS INSANE. i mean i've done something kinda similar before, but not to this scale or detail. Amazing!

i'm still trying to figure out the jump, its a little jank. everything is physics driven, and while i'm sure there's some way to get it to work exactly how i envisioned, i'm really just throwing spaghetti at the wall here. (also yea this game is gonna be weird.)
