It was an entire aspect of their business model. The tech world in the early 2010s really saw themselves as a beacon for positive change. I unfortunately think venture capitalist money got in the way, and the intention to grow over the desire to do good warped it in a sad way.

Haha I'm sure there's a process that could've been streamlined here. I definitely was overly ambitious on my drawing 😅😅😅 I only decided to separate BGs and characters bc of the style of BG I'm doing but they go by quicker/not all pages need BG.

I always want to be farther along than I am... but I drew 300+ pages. And some of these pages are insanely complicated. Tons of crowds. And here we are.
I do have to do some BG city work which sucksssss but I can taste not having to line anymore and that feels good.

The reason we need critical thought though is to understand what and where we're learning from. If you can't understand what a good resource looks like, or that AI isn't an arbiter of truth but designed by corporate interest you can learn all you want without learning.

I do think we have to start finding other ways of assessment and engagement in the classroom (ie: put your phones away and give them critical thinking challenges in lieu of lectures or write while i can see you for the duration of the class) in order to avoid this process and over-reliance on AI.

I don't think you're wrong in being clear eyed about reality and pivoting, though i just think defeatism isn't a solution either. Things have the potential to get worse as equally as they have the potential to get better. Those of us who can fight will. And those who can't will have to adapt.

Agreed! Tipping is under the same issue. If we just paid food workers full wages and fronted the bill from the get go we wouldn't have our incredibly toxic tipping culture.
