I should reach out, if for no other reason than my dad was kinda high up in the company in the 80s, and we had a spare room *filled* with C64s, manuals, software, etc. Most of the programs in the (beta) manuals didn't actually work, which is probably why I ended up in IT rather than CS.

As a (gen-x) oldie, experience has taught me that my first answer is probably wrong... which is probably how I caught the mistake here

I almost made the same mistake

Is it wrong though (turning to my nearest 29 year old and asking if they feel 44, anticipating a yes)

It's using that as the *ending* point, so it got that part right (according to Wikipedia at least)

It is arguably more like Mutual Assured Destruction, where Musk might actually have more leverage than Trump, believe it or not. And lil rando me isn't the only one thinking this:

DOGE has not been purged though. They are genuinely useful, if they can be controlled.

Beside your point, but worth noting that he still could! It's not like he lost contact with and loyalty from all the DOGE bros he's borrowed in across the gov. Musk really does have it within his power to hold gov hostage.

Couple this with the leak of Russia's nuclear infrastructure last week. Ukraine needed to target the tools Russia uses to attack them directly, but they've now demonstrated that they can hit anything they want.

My dog loves bully sticks, and apparently it's true that you are what you eat, because he can be a bit of a dick at times.

The thought I kept circling around, but took me awhile to articulate:
We could get on the right side of Ukraine...
- because it's the right thing to do, or
- because they are innovating the way future wars will be fought, and we don't want to be on the receiving end of that

Then why did you flee to Canada, @timothysnyder.bsky.social?! I still think your writings are important for this time, but can't you see how we might feel like maybe you're not so in this together with us?

I'm helpless to pick any one... but (bass being my first instrument) several made deep impressions on me: Adam Clayton; Peter Hook; Kim Deal; even Sting believe it or not.
I would obviously include Les Claypool, but his playing just feels like it's in a different category of its own.

Holy shit I had almost the exact same experience! Also AP English*; also The Stranger; might have been 88 or 89. I brought my tape to school and we listened to it in class.
*not because I was particularly smart mind you; I took AP courses to avoid the bullies, LOL
