Little bump for the evening crowd - has anyone else read Michael Caine's debut thriller novel?

Day 9 of March Madness and it's time to look at the debut thriller from a British screen legend...

I read an interview with Belinda Carlisle(!) once where she'd just finished #ErrolFlynn's autobiography. She said it was, "The sad story of a man who knows he has everything anyone could possibly want - but can't stop himself from throwing it all away." That's so painfully true.

Morning all! I've been writing something on my silly little site every day this week, and I'm aiming to do so for the whole month - here's today's post, looking back at the first week.

Day 7 of March Madness and it's time for another mini Late Review... ... I promise, this is the last Marvel cartoon on the shelf.

Say what you like about the #Daredevil movie from 2003, the groovy little palm-sized FM radio given away at preview screenings still works perfectly after 22 years in the loft... www.latereviewer.com/2025/03/03/march-madness-the-telltale-movie-merch/

Reposting for the teatime and commuter crowd - help me decide what to read, folks!

In #MyDaysWithErrolFlynn, his stunt double, #BusterWiles, mentions Errol on pretty much every third/fourth page. In #MyWickedWickedWays, Flynn's memoir, he mentions Wiles only twice... Take a look at the post below and help @latereviewer.bsky.social decide on their next read. #WorldBookDay

It's World Book Day and I'm indecisive so for March Madness YOU can choose the next book I read! Options are in the link below, please comment with your choice (as I don't think we can do polls here yet)!

My attempts to publish a fresh new post every day continue, with a look at a Batman comic we're never going to see on screen...

@goonpod.bsky.social Recently showed my kids an animated clip of 'What Time Is It, Eccles?', and was overjoyed to see them laugh like crazy (and now quote it relentlessly). Haven't heard a Goon Show in years, but have decided to dip back in. Any episodes you'd recommend to start with?

Morning! Happy Threads Day!

Here's William Shatner with his head on a paper aeroplane

Day four of March Madness and it's a mini-Late Review starring a big angry guy and a much smaller angry guy...

Day three of my month-long attempt to get back into extracurricular writing, and it's time for the story of The Tell-Tale Merch...

Fending off the Sunday night blues with a glass of red and the last half hour of Cliffhanger and found myself wondering what the 2025 equivalent would be of Sylvester Stallone having a punch-up on a mountain with John Lithgow?

If you fancy some Sunday morning reading...

Day two of my March-long writing challenge, and I'm looking at previous efforts and some advice I use daily...

Fuck's sake.

Would've been David Niven's birthday today. Here's something I wrote a while back about his wonderful autobiography.

Happy March, everyone. I said I'd try to write something every day, so here we go...

Today I have consumed four coffees and half a litre of out of date energy drink. Just posted an Army of Darkness gif on the work Teams thread too. How's your Friday going?

It's been a while since I've published anything new on my silly little blog, and I've just realised this is probably my first fresh post on Bluesky so... Congratulations, I Guess.

Gene Hackman was the most charismatic, gripping, fun yet terrifying actor that ever lived. He was a devastating force in every project he appeared in, & left the business on his own terms to enjoy a simple life. An incredible titan of the screen who was already missed, but will be really missed now.

On this day in 1989, Laura Palmer died and Agent Cooper entered Twin Peaks

Fending off the Sunday night blues watching Jon Pertwee take on some space arachnids so I can enjoy another @wheezingpod.bsky.social. Ending half term on a "HAI!", if you will.

Indiana Jones hates those guys. Want it? Link below.

Can't believe it's been 32 years. Yes, the thumbnail is from the sequel, but the Late Review for El Mariachi and its bigger budget follow-ups are all right here if you're interested...

Lots of orders coming in. Please keep them coming, please help spread the word. It's the only way indies like us keep going!

Ok, we need a new James Bond AND a new Archbishop of Canterbury, and pretty soon it'll be time for another new Willy Wonka and a new Doctor Who. We need to economise. They should all be amalgamated into a single new character called Archdoctor Bondwonka.

RIP George Armitage He directed two of my favourite films, Miami Blues and Grosse Pointe Blank. He’s also responsible for my favourite scene involving a baby & Under Pressure. Just beautiful. youtu.be/DWyuAq5Yq34?...

This is a great read.

To quote Half Man Half Biscuit: "If you've never, then you ought."

Genuinely honoured to have one of my little paintings included in this. Anyone curious about John's Robin Hood presentation can read about it here... www.latereviewer.com/2024/11/26/robin-hood-the-stuntman-lost-in-time/

The relationship between the US and Russian president has morphed from the Two Tribes video to the Relax video.

"Meta has spent over $100 billion on VR"

The Busy World of Doctor Who

2/16/44: Passage to Marseille D Michael Curtiz/DP Mr. James Wong Howe w/Bogie, Claude Rains, Greenstreet & Lorre. . . & the triple flashback!!! Which, a la Crowther, "gives a certain confusion" but @johnfeath.bsky.social via @latereviewer.bsky.social has you covered latereviewer.com/2021/10/05/s...

Okay Bluesky, this is the greatest thing I have ever made and now it’s here for you. Mr Blobby in the Virtual Insanity video.

Day five of the Valentine’s inspired ‘songs reimagined as old romance comics’ series. This time Joy Division.

STOP Valentime

Bill Hader doing an impression of Oliver Reed explaining the difference between acting on stage & acting on film. Love how he cracks Paul Giamatti up.
