Today's Photo from the Stour πŸ“Έ The freshly refurbished XC 170 appears! 170101 looking very bright and colourful passes through Wolverhampton headed for Tyseley πŸ’― #DOTS #railwayphotography #trainphotography #class170 #crosscountry #refurb

Great piece on the meteoric success of the Elizabeth line. It shows that investing in new public transport doesn't just create new travel options, but new jobs and homes too. www.theguardian.com/business/202...

NEW: Great British Railways has dropped core statutory duties for accessibility and environment Public ownership is the biggest opportunity we've ever had for transport justice. So why is govt wasting it and moving away from equality + climate policies? www.disabilitynewsservice.com/anger-after-...

I really love visiting Hamburg, not just because of the convention - the trains are very different to home! Registering to attend Eurofurence again this year, really looking forward to it. πŸ“· @oposum.bsky.social

ITS HIS DAY

Five major airlines are suing to overturn a rule from then-Transportation secretary Pete Buttigieg that actually holds airlines accountable for damaging disabled people's wheelchairs. New from me at @motherjones.com. www.motherjones.com/politics/202...

I received a wonderful piece of artwork from @aricat.bsky.social of Tealo skiing in Vancouver! I am in love with the style and how the finished art came out. πŸ˜ΈπŸŽΏπŸ”οΈ

Olaf Scholz mocked British railways over β€œbroken tracks and bad trains”, claiming that "nothing works any more” in the UK. Turns out: Germany rail problems have become so bad that Deutsche Bahn long-distance service is less punctual than even the worst operator in Britain. www.ft.com/content/d3b6...

Wild. Excitement. And. Thrills. My first trip on a new Tyne & Wear Metro train. Almost 45 years after my first trip on the old rolling stock, which are now being retired. The new somehow feel like they have fewer seats than the old, but it seems they have 116 (inc 12 tip-up) compared with 84.

happy presidents day

A very clear response from London Fire Commissioner, Andy Rowe to a question at Fire Plenary last week from Emma Best AM about the impact of LTNs on fire brigade attendance times. "We genuinely couldn't find any evidence of LTNs doing anything to our overall attendance times".

"we're sorry we couldn't provide this information sooner" they say on the PA without telling us the information they now have. That information being that the train will now depart from the other side of the station. I run for it (alternative is an hour wait) and stub my toe. VERY unhappy doggo.

My favourite train is the Class 730 for the West Midlands Railway πŸ§‘πŸ’œ Personal piece I've been very slowly working on since last August! #furryart #westmidlandsrailway #class730
